5-0 Odlandier Solis next opponent on Dec 23rd is no less than former heavyweight champion Frans Botha!!!

Botha maybe 40 but this is some seriously ambitious match making.

Guys like Solis and Alexander Povetkin expose the pretensions of Audley Harrison, Roman Greenberg type fighters and put most prospects to shame.

My thoughts exactly. Apart from the mattress soiling. Solis will be facing McCall when he's 6-0 at this rate.

It didn't do Oleg Maskaev any harm.

Facing McCall early that is, if I recall correctly!

I dont think any 6-0 fighter could face the Oliver McCall of 1996 without facing the same fate Maskaev did.

It would have to be a shithot 6-0 fighter to beat the Oliver McCall of TODAY.

Maskaev also fought Tua in his 11th contest. Alex Stewart in his 12th.

People often point to Oleg's 5 defeats without full understanding of the nature of those defeats.

yeah they have been keen to move him on fast......last time i saw pics of him though he was very big....Solis oozes class but he won't win the world title with those spare tires around his ribs

Botha has been "fighting" in UFC, Kickboxing etc whatever they call that flash in the pan stuff as well as the solitary fight since 2002.

Exactly, one time since 2002. It's not risky match making at all, Solis is a top class prospect and Botha is a fat old man. Solis will have him out of there inside three rounds.

I think Haye can be very big. He has everything a popular fighter needs and is destined for bigger things. Having the cruiser titles gives him some pedigree and it should all fall into place if he's promoted right and given the appropriate fights.

Haye v Solis COULD be a big fight one day. If Solis got in shape and was all business he'd really build up a reputation especially in today's talent starved heavyweight scene. I think Haye, Solis and Povetkin could all bring some profile to heavyweight.

But definitely, less of this small hall stuff for Haye.

I can imagine it, if Solis stays fat and wastes his talent. Haye vs Solis at the York Hall, or some little sports centre.

also, I think Haye is on fairly friendly terms with Hopkins. Or at least, he did meet him in a gym somewhere and they were photographed together a couple of years back. Maybe Hopkins will put 2 and 2 together for his Goldenb Boy boss, who knows.
