Cortez took a point because FLoyd's head was under the ropes when Ricky hit him CLEARLY in the back of the head, it's the ultimate no-no. Cortez was showing his face too much earlier in the fight, but he let them go from much of the last half. Ricky's tactics late in the fight got him KOed, not Cortez's deduciton.

Even Hatton didnt object to the point being deducted - He made no excuses so why should you - Look I understand you being gutted but the fight is over and the right man won.

But I agree that Cortez was a big liability and spoilt the fight up to a point. I wasnt that happy when I heard that Cortez was the ref as I've seen him have dodgey nights before, but Ricky and his trainer seemed happy with him prior to the fight and Graham didnt have any complaints about him after the fight. To be fair Ricky was falling in and holding a lot himself, Cortezs main crime was breaking them up too hastily and being generally rather hysterical in there. The point deduction and him going into Hattons corner after the 8th I think was a disgrace.... all in all though I think he was overexcited rather than anything more sinister...

I want to see a rematch in the UK, and I want them to have an equivalent hired house referee and equivalent hired house judges over there, and a specially built nice SMALL ring, too - and then i want to see what happens.

That being said, Hatton is a great small guy, but a small guy nevertheless, and I don't think he should be moving up in weight classes.

he was eating straight shots all night, he did well to take so many of them! on the slow-motion camera`s you could see when floyd tee`d off they were landing flush and snapping his head back.
i doubt ricky himself would want to fight floyd again.

I got swept up in the hype for ricky-floyd but before the fight was signed i hoped it wasn't going to happen. i mean, ffs, at the very least you should fight a malignaggi type, as some kind of preparation.

What a load of b*llocks this thread is - lets not find little ways out of this - Hatton lost fair and square - to put it another way as long as he is a boxer he would have never beaten Floyd Mayweather - simple as he was not good enough and never was in the first place.

Now before any of you jump on my case - I think Ricky still is a top world class boxer - but as stated in other threads - Floyd Mayweather is a freak - he will go down in boxing as one of the all time greats of that I have no doubts.

Ricky's plan on how to beat Floyd is probably about the only way PBF was ever going to be beaten but quite simply Mayweather was too strong.

To be fair Matty Cortez had done his job by the second half of the fight by completely, if nothing else, distracting Ricky every two seconds, and that sickening familiarity of Ricky, Ricky, Ricky, Ricky.......bollox.
I swear at times the Rickster was taking shots to the ribs on either side simultaneously.....Mayweather on one side and that fr***ing Kojak lookalike on the other. There was more than a sense that Ricky was fighting two blokes in that ring.

Also can I give a big round of applause to Ricky's girlfriend who you could tell was genuinely perturbed by the ending.....you could tell right there that she follows him and not his money, not that anyone said she was or owt it was just a genuine show of emotion.............compared to the trashy, gold-digger -tart -looking sort that was jumping up and down like a mad person while a man was getting knocked senseless.
