i was impressed with this fella, and his chin is top draw, i chose eastman to stop him and some of the shots howard landed would have ended many bouts, im not sure where duddy goes from here but he is on the verge of something big. the fella can bang a bit too and had howard going a few times too.

He showed signs that he can be roughed up and come through - and despite Eastman being ast his best - he's no mug...

My folks were over in Ireland watching and said it was close - but Duddy showed that he had somthing a bit extra...

Now let's see what he can the next level up.

I had Eastman winning the fight and I don't think it's much of a compliment when the main thing you say about a fighter is that he can take a punch.

Duddy won't go much further. He couldn't defend that uppercut at all and would be destroyed by someone who uses an effective jab in my mind.

Duddy is supposed to be fighting Matt Vanda next on the East Coast according to promoter Brian Peters, so a bit of a step down but a ticket seller for John. Don Turner still has a lot more work to do, Duddy told the press conference he moved his head better than previous. Man it must have been really static before!

Yeah he did move his head more, you should have seen what he was like before the Eastman fight. I still think he's average though - being Irish myself I wish it wasn't the case but I'm hoping Andy Lee will be the real deal. Duddy will need to be matched very carefully to win a title. I thought the fight was disappointly boring, with no real drama and each round a mirror image of the one that preceded it.

VERY surprised that Duddy won, not because it was a dodgy decision or anything (He won the fight IMHO), but that wasnt the Eastman I knew....he really has gone to pot.

Thing about Duddy now is: he can take a punch, and we all know you cant teach a chin.

So what next for Duddy? I cant see him being a world champ but you never know if his trainer irons out his mistakes, he has the makings of being a top 5 fighter.

I was at the Kings Hall on Saturday night, what a great atmosphere, plenty of Duddy supporters from Londonderry.

I just realised what I did there.

Missed the opening round which was obviously important as I had Eastman winning.

You are right of course John, i have seen loads of Duddy fights and his head was moved more but my comment was tongue in cheek given the amount of head rockers Eastman landed!

Was funny hearing Eastman moaning he was robbed blind at the press conference...Don Turner leaned off to the side and sighed "For f**k sake!" as Howard rambled on. He seemed to blame Harry Keitt and the previous team for the lack of head movement: "I got to undo a lot of bad things and add a lot of good things" was the jist of it.

This was a really good contest. I think Duddy has proved a few people wrong. He's a very decent boxer who packs a fair whallop and can take one too.

This was a much better Eastman than the one who turned up for the Elcock fight. His timing was better against Duddy, but styles also play apart in that too. Elcock used good movement, Duddy's moves a lot less but is much more aggressive.

It's Duddy's defence that needs the bulk of the work. In other departments such as attack, chin, guts, strategy etc he ticks the boxes. He hits hard with either hand and has an improving left hook to go with his solid jab (which he has now learned to bring back straight away after throwing). He's also a thoroughly decent fella to talk too, can't fault him in the way he listened intently to Eastman post fight and took on board his constructive criticism.

Always said Duddy would win that one, he had to come through some very tough times but as Steve said, there were a lot of good things....

So would I, but after discussion with Abraham's people it won't happe soon.

Expect Pavlik/Duddy in June.

Not so sure Duddy would fare too well with Abraham. Abraham hits hard and is so accurate with his punches, given Duddy's open defence i think it would be a recipe for disaster. Hopefully he can come out of the Matt Vanda fight unscathed, i don't see the slightest problem with him beating Vanda but it's cuts and swelling that are the problem. Another cut and stitches after the Eastman fight.

What bout duddy vs ellcock??

Abraham would win that easily, and watching Eastman fritter his career away has been deeply frustrating.....

Feb. 2 vs Matt Vanda; somewhere on the American east coast

March 15 or 16 vs. TBA; at MSG, NYC

June ? vs. Kelly Pavlik WBC & WBO Middleweight Championship, Cleveland (?), OH, USA

All are based on successful contract negotiations.
