Did you really have to delve into the story before you realised what kind of world title fights they were?

I always ASSUME the words "world title" in Australian boxing means WBF.

There should be some sort of legislation preventing them from promoting these fights as World Title bouts... imagine if someone who is new to the sport saw one of these fights and thought it was the best boxing had to offer!

what a bloody F@*#up!! The new WBF!!!!
Chad Bennet better go to a morgue to get a opponent after his last performance. Who's he gonna fight a agfani shoe polisher! what a record.

The WBF should be banned from sanctioning titles here in australia!!

The next WBF Heavyweight title fight is between 46 year old Ray Mercer and a Puerto Rican named Derrick Rossy. It is being held in Macao, China.

Looks like we don't have a mortgage on that rubbish.

Titles

Irrespective of the titles on offer, it is the opportunity to box that is important, if it wasn't for pro-active promoters offering continuing multiple fight opportunities for local fighters, the game would be a lot worse off for it. Title or no title, seeing Chad or Ben or any equally matched fighters is what its all about.
Its so damn easy to knock promoters, when was the last time you actually went and paid to see a fight and helped support boxing instead of bagging it!

Your missing the point, its seeing boxing live, its seeing fighters get paid, it's seeing fighters have an opportunity, its not about tiles!

There are a couple of key points here.
1) The opportunity to box is important, and promoters are required to make this happen, and make some money for all concerned. No questions about that.
2) Equally matched fighters - In the short ime I've been reading these threads consistent mis-matches have probably been the biggest gripe. The number of boxers in and around Australia is limited. With all promoters trying to make money the quality gets spread thin. It's happened on a much larger scale with horse racing every day of the week. There are just not enough fighters out there. I don't know the answer to that, but loading up cards with consistent mis-matches is not it.
3) Support boxing instead of bagging it - I think you are preaching to the converted on these threads. Most here seem to either currently contribute, or have previously contributed to the sport. Almost all would have participated in, attended, or watched on TV boxing matches. What people don't want is to told they are watching the best efforts of promoters when cards like Mundines last effort get presented.

Well after the last WBF fight held here its no-wonder anyone would want to watch that shit again!.
The public are sick of getting burnt watching mismatch fights, We have the right to complain as we PAY to watch that crud only to realise the show suxed ass thanks to its promoters.

Pay me $100 bucks a round and I,ll fight for a WBF title in a mini-skirt, I,d get more ratings then a cab driver.

Yep when that happens we will all be happy - moreso with Chad rather than Ben - Certainly not going to hold my breathe that this will happen anytime soon.

I want to see Chad fight someone in the Oz top 10 first before world domination

Things from the Bennett camp went a bit quite when Robert Medley started making noises about wanting his scalp. Maybe if Rob was a Thai he would stand a chance of picking up this fight.[/quote]

By the way, if you think things could not get worse than the WBF, have a look at the upcoming Global Boxing Council Heavyweight Title fight.

Somewhere that has also had a problem with bogus world title in the past but has thankfully cleaned up quite a lot in the last couple of years.

Why get sensitive over something like this, where seemingly everybody else is being critical of the same thing as me?

The Grange offered Bennet 30000 reasons to fight Robbie, but Chads too busy feasting on south east asian cab drivers rather than proving his worth against decent opposition. Have a go Bennet!!

Look under "title" at the top of the "Boxrec" main page. Two Middle-Europeans with foot long names are fighting for it.

I'm going to Prague next week but coming back just before this fight. What a shame I'll miss seeing the heavyweight championship of the world...

So why not just put them in 10 rounders with respectable opponents?
