Anyone going to bother tonight?

i usually go and watch all the big name aussie fighters at the local club, but i think ive seen one to many boring and predictable mundine undercards. i would rather get my proper 8 hrs sleep and be refreshed at work tommorow.
i like to watch mundine fight, and i guess the opponent tonight would be excussable if it were not a world "title" fight. but its a bit of a joke really.
i'll see the highlights when i wake up on the early news, but i really dont think i can sit through this undercard, nor do i care to see mundine beat up an overmatched opponent and tell us after the fight that he wants the best, that hes gonna go down to MW, then to LHW. when the reallity is that he will more than likley beat up two or three more scrubsa at SMW till he fights some one good again (im hoping he fights bika next year)

anyway, thats my rant for today.....
anyone else feel the same?

Might read about it tomorrow. Clavero has been here before and was not impressive.

Sam Soliman KOed him in seven rounds and he was disqualified against Paul Briggs for refusing to fight.

Maybe tonight he will put on a sprinting exhibition.

Ho hum! Mundine KOs the bum in four rounds then goes into some unintelligible rant that is translated into him wanting to fight Danny Green again.

Mailata was as good as I thought he would be, being stopped in 2 by Haumona and Hopfrog gets his "revenge" against Fitzgerald (who had won one fight in six before beating Hopoate in their first outing.)

I am glad I did not bother watching it.

Sounds like the typical Mundine card, I didn't bother watching it either...

It was a long night, over 5 hours in total. The best bits on the pay-for-view marathon were the replayed highlights of other recent major fights and some interviews. But how do you sum up this 10 undercard epic? Here's an attempt:

The Hard Men:

Daniel Baff and Kane Mckay fought out a punishing draw and this was by far the best bout of the night. Featured non-stop hard in-fighting with very little clinching. Both showed great heart and worthy of a rematch.

Kerry Foley had a hard fought battle with granite jawed Sosaia Vaka. Fight was stopped in Kerry's favour with seconds to go. Sosaia didn't deserve to get a KO against his name. Kerry is a prospect and Sosaia would be a welcome opponent against up-and-coming light-heavies.

Ercument Aslan although he remained cautious, easily outpointed, the mighty Paz Viejo in an untidy fight. Paz gets a mention under this heading as he was willing to get into the ring and take a few big hits.

Ex-Leaguies Big Blows:

Solomon Haumono was far too big and strong for Seiaute Mailata who succumbed to two huge right hands in early round 2. The last one was the punch of the night. Time is now for Johnny Lewis to find a decent opponent for Solomon.

John Hopoate seemed short on condition in his round 5 stoppage of Brian Fitzgerald. Some felt the ending was premature as Brian was still on his feet. But Brian was his own worst enemy by not using his left jab more and adopting "rope a dope" tactics. Hoppa seemed to run out of puff in the last minute of the rounds but Brian never followed up. There was a bit of excitement after the stoppage when Hoppa was challenged by a section of the crowd. A few more fights and Hoppa may be ready to call out Big Bob Mirovic, but not at the moment.

Anthony Mundine was always going to beat Jose Clavero, who was way way out of his depth. A cut eye to Jose in round 2 saw the beginning of the end and Daman finished his easy night's work when Jose decided to remain seated for the 10 count in round 4. Daman needs another quick but harder fight to get rid of a bit of ring rust due to his enforced layoff.

The Silencing of the Thais:

Mohamed Elomar KO'd in one minute a hapless and hopeless Ekarat Kiatpaiboom. Come on Mohamed, what are you going in a mis-match like that!

Peter Kazzi easily outpointed veteran Plaisakda Singwancha in 4, who should give the game away. Peter needs to lift his workrate so to dominate his opponents.

Peter Mitrevski also easily outpointed clown Dennapa Bigshotcamp in 4. Big Shot staged considerable clowning and prat falls before and after bout and during the breaks. At least Big Shot's antics added a chuckle to a long night.

Sadat Tasci had his first win in a 3 round KO of Jakklit Eausampan, who was a total dud and now boasts a record of 4 fights - 4 losses - 4 knockouts.

Only lanky Kalthanong Sithkrupon did Thai boxing any credence with a competent effort against heavyset Bill Kalache, who won on points over 4. Both threw some heavy shots and respected each others fire power

surely Mundine would have a mandatory due in the not too distant future?

Maybe Haumono will step up to the plate and find Welliver now, after they turned down an offer to fight him earlier this year.

thaught Mailata would have put up a better showing after his 8 Round war with former world title challenger Ed Mahone!

Haumono can obviously punch

The WBA will probably just elevate some bum from 157th to 15th ranked for Mundine. I like how the papers today were calling Clavero "15th ranked supermiddleweight"

If he rematches Green it should be at Light-Heavy and in Perth and if he rematches Kessler it should be in Denmark. Mundine seems to have all the tools except heart. He will not take any risks, his legacy will be that of the biggest waste of talent in the last few years not as a "Champion".

I went as i had a free ticket. Great & accurate summary by beltane.Kane mckay surprised me as i'm sure baff was surprised.elomar & kazzi are average & never step it up so who cares. Soloman really looks the goods agaist the limited opponents he has fought. They must test him now. hoppa is no soloman but i tought he improved a fair bit in his fight from what we've seen before
