this should be at 140lbs and i think should be held in manchester against a fighter in the top 10-15.... a warm up fight to get confidence back but also a fight against a guy that hatton should beat but not a walk-over.

i think these 3 have the credentials to be rickys 1st opponent......

yeah mate i know but most on that post are talking about hatton going straight in with another champion.

i think 1 or 2 non title fights is something ricky needs at the moment so he can regroup , try new things against lesser fighters so that he improves before going for the world title again

Interesting idea Bob but fighters don't really seem to do that so much these days.

I also think with his propensity to cut and the battle to get the weight off it is always possible that Ricky could lose a seemingly easy fight by not being 'up for it'.

I think despite Hattons defeat on Saturday he is still 'A' list, DLH will see to that, 25,000 Brits dropping a fortune in Vegas will ensure Ricky gets more big fights in my opinion.

None of this re-grouping on a York Hall undercard required!

I can see him straight in with another big fight in May/June time - they might still even explore the Hatton-DLH Wembley scenario because of the $$$$ and ££££ it would generate.

Especially right in the middle of Euro 2008 it would give the nation something else to focus on.

I think a domestic bust up with Gavin Rees, it has a world title attached to it and Rees is shit so he should muller him. Preferably at the MEN for his fans.

The choices are Rees, Witter, Malinaggi or Torres. If Ricky is smart he should go for Witter while he still has something left in the tank. The WBC belt is the only one he doesn't have. If he has already won the IBF and WBA titles at his weight, why wouldn't you want to go and win the WBC - especially when the guy holding it is his only domestic rival who has been mouthing off about him and calling him out for years.

I know Ricky says he hates Witter and doesn't want to give him a pay day, but if he wants the green belt he has no choice. Rees as a warm up for Witter by the end of next year would be my preference but I doubt we'll see Hatton again until probably this time next year.

Hatton has done the US thing now. I really think he should come back and defend his 140lbs title in the UK. He's the champ at 140 why give up advantages over in the US? He has largely failed to impress when fighting over there. Perhaps he did peak back in 2005? But maybe going back to what he knows best would be the best way to rediscover his old form?

Witter presents similar problems as Mayweather, ie hatton can't rough up what he cant hit. Witter probably hits harder than Mayweather but doesn't have anywhere near the stamina. I hope he does take the Witter fight but I think he'd lose, he should certainly take Rees or someone of his ilk as a warm up first.

I would love to see the Witter fight but it could go horribly wrong for Ricky and I'm not sure he could live with advancing Witters career as well as giving him a pay day. Witter would be in a win-win situation because he'd be the underdog and it is the only real chance he has at a big money fight. Hatton could sell out the MEN against almost anybody so it all depends on how much he wants the WBC belt. He should have fought Gatti before Mayweather got to him.

he was popular enough for a while. now the loveable loser angle will be played - sorry, almost agreeing with marley's article now - though hatton can still win at world class. not sure if he'll have to swallow his pride and take a Witter fight. Hoppe he does though because they should square off.
