They clearly want the Feburary bill to be for there belt then. Hopfuly will go ahead then cos Khan don't want to look like he has ducked a fight, ITV would do there nut if Hennessy won the bids

Why is McDermott nominated for the English, having won a BRITISH eliminator against Gammer?

thanks for the update.

2 good fights if they happen, Khan-Thaxton and Murray-Fewkes.

However, I would be gutted if Thaxton lost. He's 1 win away from having a Lonsdale belt and I don't want to see him finished by the bigger, faster Khan.

But this gives the fight that extra bit of intriguing backstory.

Murray-Fewkes definitely one to watch. Both probably better than they looked last time out (Munguia/Reid).

Healthy scene at the domestic, grassroots level.

Woolcombe-Rhodes is good, too.

If Khan wins and vacates it'd potentially only take Thaxton to win it off whoever picks it up for him to keep it out right though you can ammass your Longsdale wins over a couple of stints as champion I think.

Hopefully something comes of Khan-Thaxton, the fight has the potential to be a cracker. Thaxtons got a decent chin, good workrate and power, so he could test Khans chin and stamina, but I said the same when he faced Earl.

Fewkes-Murray would be a beauty as well

Looking increasingly like the 2/2/08 bill (possibly in liverpool) could be a good one if the Khan fight is vs Thaxton which looks likely then it'll be that with Paul Smith vs Steve Bendall for the english on the undercard, and a local fighter Bellew on the undercard too. Those three fights allone would make it worth watchin. DOn't know much about Derry Mathews but so far..

Put it together Frank and I'll buy tickets!

do you not think this could hinder Khan v Thaxton

will it not affect SN calling the shots

how do purse birds work

60/40 split in £££££ favouring the champ ? does that have out to do with it ??

You wouldn't be the only one! It's about time we had a decent boxing venue. Sick of going to Sports Centres and the Olympia to watch boxing.

Only advantage of going to watch a fight at the Olympia is that its so close to the Grafton

Strangly I was offered tickets to the Khan fight at the olimpia but didn't take them cos I didn't trust the bloke who offered them to me so never seen a fight there.

I’m a bit disappointed that Pickering against Rendall is in Barnsley. With Pickering from Nottingham (Newark) and Rendall from Leicester, it was a ready-made fight for the East Midlands.

Could have had Jason Booth on in the chief support at the Harvey Hadden in Nottingham. Still, its a good fight wherever the bout is held and one i will certainly be going up to Barnsley to watch.

C'mon Rendall.

I'm not sure you can? Is this true? Would be a shame to see Thaxton lose out on keeping his Lonsdale belt, but I guess that's why it's sport, and not a charity.

Quite keen to see Khan not rush things - I'd like to see a steady path to world title level over the next 18-24months, taking on a variety of fighters. Suspect it'll be Thaxton then the WBU though, as mentioned elsewhere.
If its the WBU rout Im sacraficing allegedly. Much rather EBU.

Yes it's true. It's based on total title victories, not total defences.

I think the next logical step is Thaxton - Khan's performance on Saturday will have dampened Frank's cautious errings a bit - and now the beeb has mandated it, I'm pretty sure this will be what we're getting in February for the two titles.

After that, Khan really will have done the business domestically - if he wins - and I don't see him sticking around with the belt, so Thaxton could always go back to it if he had the desire to carry on.

After that, Romanov must be one of those in the offing for Summer for Khan. By the end of the year, I am sure Diaz will have had to vacate one of his titles for political reasons, and if it's the WBO (although given it's their mandatory their he's actually fighting next this might be doubtful) then Khan will be involved in a world title fight by the end of the year.

I think Diaz will probably move up in weight resonably soon which is what Warren will be waiting around for. He looks to be fighting every two months at the moment which is about right not sure what the EBU status in terms of manditories etc.

Good point, although Khan isn't rated by the WBC last time I looked (although that may well change now) and if someone forgot to pay for Suliman's new film projector and popcorn maker then they'll be looking elsewhere.

I'm sure Romanov will come accross for a voluntary for the right money.

As long as Amir has atleast 1 Good Fight before this, i think it should be okay for Khan... Though i would personally say he needs atleast 2 more

If its Khan v Thaxton next it wont get as far as the purse bids. Warren will make Thaxton an offer in the meantime and get it on his show.

Doesn't the EBU automatically get in the WBC top 5, anyone know where romanov and Thaxton are in the WBC ranking there website is pissing me off.

I think Khan's 13th and Romanov's 12th.

Anyways. I don't think it would be a bad idea for Khan to fight Thaxton next - it might test Khan's chin if nothing else because we're all a tad suspicious about it at the moment.

Nevertheless if he beats Thaxton, and he should baring any major upsets then Romanov for the EBU belt should be on Khan's wish-list for the summer, and again, I expect Khan to beat him.

This is another idea as well - let's say Khan beats Thaxton he could then take on Casamayor as he's still rated highly with the WBC and he looked shot against Santa Cruz, and managed to get lucky with the decision.

If Thaxton looks the same as he did against Stewart then Khan will stop him early.

Thaxton Is 32 In the WBC rankings.
