watched the williams platov highlights on tv tonight, forst time i had seen the action, what a tasty little scrap although danny was definately 'jobbed' due to the 4 round rule !!

but what i did like was the work of danny in the fight, he held a shot well, he seemed to be punching with decent power, he looked focused and his huge shoulders were back.

personally it looked like he has found some hunger for the fight game again, on that form he is head and shoulders above the other british heavyweights.

i dont think david haye would want to fight him, danny is just too powerful and if he connected, much as i like haye, i think it would be 'lights out' ....

Completely disagree - He looked slow, lethargic and out of puff. He could hardly string 5 punches together before ponderously stopping.

and his hands were dropping towards the end.

David Haye needs alot of improving himself - he cannot be as open as he was vs Mormeck vs any heavyweight... but that Danny would lose to Skelton and even Audley again.

ITV didn"t show It In full, he was much better than that.

Haye has spared Williams on a number of times. Would certainly be a statement of intent if he took on those kind of guys

On the subject of Haye, I thought starting with Tomasz Bonin was a decent statement. To move up and start with Williams would be a massive ask, and I know I'd be straight out for tickets!

I don't think anybody would dispute that he has had a good career; but it could've been so much more, that's the point.

Danny pissed me off thinking he could fight at 20 stones, but he can fight at 17 plus and beat most.

Agreed. I don't think Danny's opponent looked anything special. Good scrap while it lasted.

A fit Williams would have demolished him within six rounds. He's too small and too talentless, doesn't throw enough straight shots to be a contender.

Platov that is. The words Williams and too small are rarely mentioned together.

It's impressive weight gain isn't, especially as Ramadan has only just finished.

I hope Williams doesn't have regrets when he's done and he looks around at fighters like Lamon Brewster, John Ruiz and Oleg Maskaev who've all won world-titles.

At his best, Danny is the match for all three. Certainly Brewster.

If Danny finishes without at least being European champion.....tut, tut.

After hearing that Danny looked good I was disapointed with his showing, he only fought in bursts, he looked good at times during his bursts but in between he was too slow and took too many punches and he had a visable belly on him. Where was his jab?... he seemed to have little stragety save for slugging it out when he got his breath back every now and then. The 'result' was harsh on Danny but had Platov not been cut I think he may have worn down Williams, the cut certainly made a difference to Platovs performance....
