Both Frank and Pat are having a pop at Hatton's trainer, Graham.

It's uncalled for.

Hatton WAS hunting him down masterfully and cutting the gap fast, as Graham said he would be, but he just couldn't get his shots off quick enough or well enough on the night once he was there. I DO think he's looked abit cumbersome in both his welterweight title fights, but surely that's down to Kerry Kayes and not Billy Graham.

Graham looks after tactics and technique. Kayes does the muscle stuff/weight stuff.

I'm not sure how much influence these trainers have. From my observation Hatton got schooled.

Cutting the distance betweenyou and your opponent is all very well if you land a shot or slip a shot at the end of it.

Hatton was too one dimensional for Floyd

Graham cant give him a ramrod jab and crushing one punch ko power (which is what a fighter needs to beat Floyd)

Hasn't there been a long history of emnity between Warren and Graham? Doesn't Hatton's dad also have a rocky relationship with him?

You're not wrong. As far as I am aware, Warren has always disliked Billy, and that's putting it lightly.

It annoys me somewhat when people look too hard for reasons why a sportsman may have lost. All too often the trainer is turned upon when it is not justified.

A good example of this was when Anthony Farnell left Brian Hughes. Hughes had moulded the limited talent of Farnell into something akin to a half decent fighter. Farnell was making a good living through sheer determination and the tutelage of Hughes. When he got caught cold by a beautiful shot from Takaloo and knocked out in a round, those around Farnell turned on Hughes and lay the blame at the veteran trainer's door. I personally think that was awful.

from what i could hear, graham was telling hatton to stop attacking in straight lines because he was smothering his work - which was exactly the right advice.

the fact hatton wouldnt do it isnt graham's fault.

Says in the Mirror that Hatton is reviewing the whole Mayweather fight and ditching Graham is an option since tension was running high in the camp, Graham didn't fly back with them yesterday.

I would like to see Hatton remain loyal to Graham for precisely these reasons.

Loyalty is too undervalued a commodity in boxing.

Fwanky gutted that Hatton became richer than him on the back of that fight, and Sheehan is a football jounalist who has never written anything worth reading about boxing.

Surely an ex-fighter or trainer(or both)would be a better option?

His "talent" is making money off the back of a boxers GENUINE talent.

I wonder how much warren is paying the sun for his weekly column? Britains best selling tabloid on a saturday is a fantastic place to advertise your upcoming shows and slate those your not making money off anymore.

I guess whatever else you say about him, he's a good businessman!

Don't get me wrong, Graham was lucky to get someone like Hatton in the first place, but he is certainly NOT to blame for Hatton's performance.

Not sure if it was apparent on the PPV, but I was behind Hatton's corner for the fight and there was something just not rightbetween Hatton and Graham I thought at the time.

Graham was also having a row with HBO as they made their were getting ready.

Could've just been nerves and they were blocking his corner, but I'd never seen him like that before.

Also thought it odd on 24/7 that they weren't really shown together outside the ring when being interviewed, especially given their past together.

Might just be reading into nowt

You can't teach an old dog new tricks and Hatton, in the twilight of his career after 44 fights, is unlikely to learn any. I agree with Ian McNeilly's report on BBN that Ricky was pretty much gassed from round 3/4. I'm no expert on training techniques, but maybe there was too much emphasis on strength rather than cardio training. Hatton's shown no evidence that he still has great stamina since the Tszyu fight.
