Why do Aussies seem to dislike Anthony Mundine

Is it his fighting style, is it his attitude, something else all together?
Or do you infact like him, and this dislike is a figment of my imagination?

He thinks he is like Ali because he talks a lot and badmouths his opponents.

The difference is that Ali was funny, while Anthony is just annoying.

Your'e joking aren't you?

People dislike his lack of respect for opponents and for those that came before. He stupidly made a comment that was offensive to 90 percent of the population refering to 9/11.
He claims to be the greatest but as we all know he is world class but hardly great.
Compare him to Kostya who had a far superior record yet manages to still have the respect of all of us.

We just don't go for the big heads I think.

Because he is against the American Foreign Policy.

Because he is an Aboriginal Muslim

Because he tamed the aussie bleeder, Danny Green.

Because he is good mates with Shekh Hilaly.

Because he praises God after every win.

Because he ALWAYS came out on top of Fittler and Daley (considered the best 5/8 players in the modern game) in his league days.

Because he speaks his mind, and doesn't seem to agree with the media.

Basically, aussies hate anyone who is succesful that isn't media friendly, anyone who is confident.....take Lleyton Hewitt and Shane Warne as your prime examples.

All them points are Bullshit and you know it Jaafar,

He says he is the best fighter in the world
He says he is better than Bradman
He said the US deserved 9/11
The list is endless just last week he said that Cathy Freeman who is our best Aboriginal Athlete ever isnt a good role model because she is a woman.
The man is a dickhead and every time he opens his mouth he looks more stupid. The silly thing is if he did his talking in the ring everybody would be behind him as he is a talented fighter.

While Freeman has spent her post-retirement career rubbing elbows with other celebs and speaking about a possible film career, Mundine has decided that acceptance by the mainstream corresponds with a loss of credibility. Not necessarily by choice, he has no endorsement deals.
"If you want to toe the line," Mundine said, "if you want to be some corporate guy and say the right things, do the right things, you might be OK in the media's eye, but it wouldn't be real for me.

Firebrand boxer Anthony Mundine has angrily denied calling Olympic gold medallist Cathy Freeman a "sell-out", claiming media reports of the comments were part of a white-led conspiracy aimed at bringing down successful blacks.

Mundine was reported saying Freeman could not be a credible indigenous leader while she was involved with corporate Australia.

"I want to set the record straight," Mundine said.

"They quoted in the paper that I said she sold out. You know, that's my sister, that's my girl ... and I'd never say that she sold out. She knows how I am as a person, she knows how I am as a man and she knows I wouldn't say that stuff about her.

"I feel it's the white infrastructure behind it - the power structure - that's trying to divide and conquer famous, successful Koories. Basically they're trying to bring me down ... and try to derail my event, my world title fight.

"She knows my heart, she knows that I never said that crap. And if I did I've got amnesia because I don't remember."

Mundine, who previously said the United States brought the September 11 attacks on itself, admitted to saying men were better leaders than women but denied calling Freeman a "sell-out".

"I've never said that Cathy ... sold out. How could I say she sold out, she's a proud Aboriginal and I was inspired by her in the 2000 Olympics when I first started my boxing career.

"She's an inspirational athlete and probably one of the best Olympians ever - so all this 'he said , she said' bullshit - it's mad me mad and made me in a good mood to fight."

Mundine said he contacted Freeman's managers to deny he called her a "sell-out".

The latest Mundine controversy accompanies claims today he is playing up his eye injury caused by an infection from a dirty contact lens.

News Ltd papers reported Dr Lou Lewis, who will officiate at Mundine's clash next week, calling the boxer a "a self-perpetuating publicity machine".

"No one would let him get into a ring if he had 50% or less vision. It just wouldn't happen. I'm hoping to see him later today for a final look. But he's already been cleared and no one would dare take any chances," Dr Lewis was reported to have said.

He said he did not watch the Green fight, instead playing board games with his wife.

Probably nothing more difficult than Chinese Checkers.

I think Mundine does cop a little too much from the public eye, I mean the guy is like an angel compared to the fighters in the US and the things they do and say.

Daily and Fitler were much better football players than Mundine. I believe if Mundine would have stuck with league he would be playing Test football now.

His comments about US foreign policy was un-called for, if he had half a brain at the time, he would have made no such comments. He has brain mouth disorder where he will just say whats on his mind and not realizing the potential controversy it may cause.

He always does claim he is the best. He will walk into the ring saying "im the best" even though everytime he has stepped up in class he gets beat.

Credit to the guy, I think he is getting better, and he may be at his best now. A rematch with Kessler may have different results and I think he could beat him.

I seriously dont mind the guy, at the end of the day he is fighting bums for awesome money, more than most Australian fighters put together. He runs his mouth off, and people are going to clubs and buying PPV to see him getting knocked out. I'd say Mundine has the last laugh all the way to the bank. Good luck to him :TU:

The guy is a wanker, plain and simple.

PS Mundine couldn't even see, let alone hold, Fittler's shoe laces on the football field!!!

Playing Test football? Give me a break! The modern halfbacks are all bigger than he ever was! Alongside the blokes playing in his old position of five-eight he is a midget!

So he did somersaults when he scored tries. Big deal!

Yep, Im hearing you Brute. During the last NRL season, Souths 5/8 John Sutton Played Between 100-105kg, fit as a flea. His speed on foot is not not bad either and I'd say his passing and kicking skills are on a par with Mundines.. If he tried to get back into the game these days it would take him half a season to get out of premier league before being boned out in his first game by a giant like Sutton

Former head of the Lakemba Mosque in the Canterbury-Bankstown district of Sydney. Commonly known as "Mufti."

Got in strife for making allegedly inflammatory statements. As he only speaks a Lebanese form of Arabic whether they were inflammatory or not depended on who was translating.

Darren Lockyer is only 86 kg. You may be right Mundine might never have been good enough to play rep football. But I dont think its because of his size. I think it would be due to Mundines inconsistency. One week he looked awesome next he looked shithouse.

Staying away from the 6 hours of weights a week and massive calorie diets of NRL players would just about do it, they train to put on weight for more hitting power.
Karmicheal Hunt was a very dainty 80Kg when he started with the Broncos at 17 and he usually plays at around 94kilos these days.

Lockyer is a ball distributor where Mundine depended on speed. There are now bigger backs than him who are faster. Greg Inglis would cream him.
