Not happening, Rees has to defend his title in germany against Kotelnik and probably wont get past him.

A fight with Rees isnt likely now, if ever - Anyway Rees has a defence to deal with for the moment - Hatton should fight Witter but if it happens it will be because Hatton has endured another loss, maybe against Malinaggi - I think the announcement of his next opponent will be very interesting - A fight in Britain but against who, not at all sure, Torres maybe.

Thats the reason I made the thread. According to Enzo, Rees is not fighting Kotelnik in January at all, they know nothing about it, so if that is the case then his positive soundings could mean Hatton/Rees is a goer.

Surely Kotelnik would accept 50k stepaside money, this would still leave Rees way above his best ever pay day.

If they can get out of the Kotelnik fight, I think its a certainty really.

If Hatton makes Witter wait any longer I reckon it will severely damage his legacy amongst British Fans.

Witter should just get a fight against one of the other belt holders and hammer them.

Then the silence from Hattons camp would be deafening.

Hatton will go down as overrated and being battered by PBF, KT is already forgotten.

1st World class prime fighter he met (PBF) and he gets schooled.

Remember - Witter fought judah on 5 days notice and still managed to win 3/4 round even though he lost - he was never battered.

Yep I will buy that - Its the fight to make happen, but somehow I dont think we will see it - I cant wait to hear who Hatton fights next - That announcement is every bit as interesting as any fight taking place in 2008.

witter should be the only fighter on hattons mind at the moment plus a win over witter would prove he is still the man at 140.

yes hatton was brave in defeat but floyd never hit top gear in that fight so he should drop any thoughts of a rematch with floyd.

if hatton fights both witter and malignaggi in 08 and beats them then that will do for me

Reality check - Hatton ran Mayweather as close as anyone has in recent years, even though he was well behind at the end, he was close at halfway even without sympathetic refereeing. I don't think it besmirches his legacy in any significant way providing he reestablishes at 140.

As I see it, he has four or five potential fights there, notwithstanding Witter:

Rees The common sense option - financially it should do okay, and it has the belt for show. I guess a Hattom stoppage in around five or dix would be the result in an all action fight.

Malignaggi Probably the one down the line in October. Hatton wins this for me, just walks through the powder puff American as Cotto did.

Hopkins Would be a crap fight as D-Hop follows Uncle Ex onto the back foot. Hatton eventually catches up and floors him.

Torres A World Titlist. Can't predict the fight because I haven't really seen much of him.

Juan Diaz I see this as the dark horse fight - if he isn;t going to fight Casamayor or Katsidis, then there is not a lot left for Baby Bull at lightweight, and the money would be amazing for this one. As for a result, its a tough call - will depend how much Hatton has been dented by the idea of defeat.

Not up to speed with your debate but HOW FUNNY would it be if Rees beat Hatton?

You'd have to chuck him in with Mayweather if he did ........another one he'd have "no chance" against.

Most sensible fight would be Rees but I don't think Hatton fights again for 7/8 months. Then who knows where the belts will be. I aggree with those above who think Witter should close off his options with other belt holders. Torres first maybe.

The most unfortunate thing for Hatton is that in black and white terms, you look at his record and the first time he stepped up to the plate against a genuinely world class opponent... he lost by TKO. It doesn't quite tell the story that the guy he was fighting was one of the best boxers of the last 20 odd years.

Either way, I do agree, he should just fight Witter as soon as possible.
