Who do you think is the best British heavyweight at present? I'm including Haye in the poll because he will be moving up soon.

I picked Haye, just alone on the fact he has to be better than at least 75% of that list right now, with only one HW fight..........

Haye is undoubtedly the best of that lot, i fail to see how anyone can disagree but as he'a not 'officially' a heavyweight, ie his last fight was at cruiser, and he hasnt given up his titles or arranged a fight at HW, i've voted for A-Force! Also to avoid a landslide in the vote!

Haye has the most potential but I think Harrison is a close second and would cream skelton (cue abuse!)

it shows how shit the british heavyweight scene is when we vote for a bloke whose only had 1 heavyweight bout and that lasted less than 3 minutes.

Haye has heavyweight power, but unfortuanatly a lightweight chin. Who knows how he'll react when an 18 stone lump lands flush on it. For that reason Ive pipped for Skelton, who I think has the best chance of the bunch in ebating David at HW... more so if Haye cant blast him out early.

Danny Williams for me. Any boxer that has a love of cherry bakewell's gets my respect.

I suspect Haye's chin will be much the stronger when he is not forced to carry it on legs of bendy rubber due to the weight making process, though the fact that this is just a theory rather than any kind of fact means that I've plumped for Danny Williams here - assuming he turns up fit and firing.

Big John on his day would get at least one victory against the rest in that list above.

I don't know why we always moan about the lack of world class heavys in the UK, we have never had an abundence of them at any time in boxing history, so why should now be any different.

At the moment i'd go for Skelton, just because he's proven himself more.
But i was thinking about Danny Williams last fight, can everybody really see David Haye taking those bombs that Danny was throwing in his last fight?
I know Haye may also catch Danny with one and stop him, but Haye has been hit and hurt by Mock, Thompson, Fragomeni and Mormeck. And Danny punches alot harder than any of those.
maybe its the weight making that affects David and his legs will be stronger at heavy, i really hope that is the case, as i would love to see him make it to the top. But i'm not convinced he will.

3. Audley Harrison (on pure talent - when/if ever his head's right, he beats them all)
4. David Haye (obviously huge potential but the Bonin result was hugely over-rated. Jury's out as a HW)

For me McDermott is greatly improved, he's not No1, but has learnt from his losses and his conditioning is better. He's never going to be body beautiful , but has a good jab and a strong right hand he's also not wild in his attacks.

Have to say Haye, however I wouldn't be surprised is Williams or Harrison knock him out, or vice versa.

I like Skelton, it is a pity we haven't seen him in with a really good
American heavyweight but he has proven himself with decent performances against the best of the British heavyweights.

I agree with Oli that AH in the right frame of mind would beat them
all, pity about his mouth, brain and his attitude being on autopilot!

Old Bones Ian is bang on, we haven't had this much strength in depth
as regards domestic heavyweights in modren times... who remembers
Funso Banjo vs Hughroy Currie for the British title (mind you... in
retrospect Currie was pretty decent)

Goodness, what a depressing list that is!!!! :P

The ironic thing is, the most impressive out of that list is not even officially a heavyweight!!!! :P

Where is this pure talent I often hear about, in relation to Harrison?

Surely talent is all encompassing, isn't it?

He hardly throws punches; he's terrified of his own shadow & his stamina is amongst the worst I have ever seen, but apart from that, he's allegedly got silky skills?

If they rush Haye into a Skelton fight it will end the same as the Thompson fight with with a knackerd Haye stopped in 5 or 6 rounds.
To much emphasis has been put on to fight the Brodin fight and Skelton won,t fall over in a round, He,ll force Haye to work 3 minutes of every round whilst pushing 18 n a half stone him.

Dead right.

Skelton is an ugly fighter & he isn't great, but he's better than all the others by a stretch.

Haye may one day top the list, but that day isn't today.

Haye also KO'd Gary Delaney, who has been a heavyweight since 1996.

Does anyone see the likes of Dolan, Sexton, Chisora, Rogan, Belshaw or Chris Burton achieving anything?

Burton - I haven't seen. Apparently making steady progress but rumoured to have a shaky chin.

Chisora - I watched him vs Darren Morgan and was impressed. He's skillful but lacked conditioning.

Sexton - Seen him a few times. Nice jab but too upright and was given all he could handle by Luke Simpkin last time out which isn't encouraging. He's due to fight Darren Morgan on the Mitchell-Johanneson undercard next.

Dolan - Good amateur pedigree, finally starting to fight regularly but could do with getting a move on at 28. Too small to be a heavyweight?

Rogan - not seen

Belshaw - currently recovering from a bad injury. Looked very crude when I saw him. Another Kevin McBride?
