Boring .... are you a f*cking idiot or what - for me it is the most in depth sensational article written about the sport!!!Big Pussy wrote:This is boring- I don't see what the problem is.
Tickets for any events sell at the market value- not the face value. Why do so many England fans get into the stadiums at the Euros and World Cup- because they are willing to pay more than anyone else over the face value.
As for the scalping- if I had £3.1m taken out of my wage- I would damn sure try and guarantee the return of that money. And the people that guarantee that money in blocks? Yep, brokers.
Thom Hauser is proving more and more to be one of the best, if not THE best, sports journalist out there.Spud wrote:Boring .... are you a f*cking idiot or what - for me it is the most in depth sensational article written about the sport!!!Big Pussy wrote:This is boring- I don't see what the problem is.

I know a number of people within the media world have already read the article and view it as such.
Go on have the time to read it - if indeed this article carries weight which I feel it does as it is written by one of the very best and renowned writers from the boxing fraternity throughout the world!!! - peoples phones in certain areas are going to be RED HOT!!!
In my opinion - well done Thomas Hauser.
But if everything is true and the article suggests there has been some in depth research going on - surely it blows out of the water peoples view that Hatton is a man of the people!!!Emerson Poncey Name Ghent wrote:Thom Hauser is proving more and more to be one of the best, if not THE best, sports journalist out there.Spud wrote:Boring .... are you a f*cking idiot or what - for me it is the most in depth sensational article written about the sport!!!Big Pussy wrote:This is boring- I don't see what the problem is.

To be honest, this just brought it to the attention of the UK, as it's been going on in the States for years. I had exactly the same problem when I saw DLH v Mayweather.
I never bought that line anyway. In the build up to the fight he turned into a parody of 'the man of the people'- it was ridiculous.Spud wrote: But if everything is true and the article suggests there has been some in depth research going on - surely it blows out of the water peoples view that Hatton is a man of the people!!!
Lets not do the normal b*llocks of trying to deflecting the issue here - deal with the article and the comments contained within it - if indeed what you write is true I will answer back by stating - do 2 wrongs make a right.Big Pussy wrote:OK. Well how is this different to the promoter of Hatton-Massau selling tickets to the public UNDER the face value to fill the arena?
And before you start getting defensive. It's a trick ALL the promoters do.
Do the promoters give refunds to those who paid full whack?
No Spud. That article is BORING. Doesn't it state the obvious on almost every level?Spud wrote:Boring .... are you a f*cking idiot or what - for me it is the most in depth sensational article written about the sport!!!Big Pussy wrote:This is boring- I don't see what the problem is.

Ticket touting is not illegal.rhino222 wrote: surely its no different than being a ticket tout......which is actually illegal !!!
You mention Hauser's sources - it refers to the Nevada State Commission, Richard Shaefer, Bob Arum amongst others - Incidentally I am told Hauser is or was a lawyer or something to do with that side of things - I do not think he would have relied on "hearsay" to make his article.Terry D wrote:Young man? Terry young man mock all you want my friend - come on lets see you be honest - taking the comments contained within the article do you not think something is wrong with all what has gone on?
And if indeed you and others have mocked my so call crusade surrounding the events of the "Ticket Fiasco" - surely you and others are stopped in your tracks when one of the very best writers and one which has been complemented on Hatton's website then makes an indepth investigation to what has gone on and look what he has come up with.
It is all very well people coming on knocking "Spud" - crack on - no problems - but lets see if people can stop putting up the "F*ck me we best take the p*ss out of Spud to deflect the issues in hand".
Come on Terry - lets see you comment on the article and the comments contained within - do you think it is right or wrong?![]()
I scan read the article. It was not a massive shock, I'm not convinced that Hauser has discovered a new axis of evil. Just a practice that has gone on before and will go on since. People who are at the money making end of it will not complain, those who are not not making money from the situation (not accusing you here, perhaps some of Hauser's sources) will complain.
If a fight is a big event. The fighters get on with the fighting side and others will have use the event to fleece every penny possible from it. From tickets to flogging merchandise from a bag.
Is it right or wrong? Depends on your perspective. If you are on the inside it is justifiable, lose your place at the trough and you will suddenly get a sharp sense of right and wrong.
Interesting comments.Eraserhead wrote:It's an interesting article, but one that only highlights the kind of thing that goes on at tons of big-time sporting/music events. This isn't anything new or even surprising. In this instance, rather than the tickets 'selling out in seconds' and then appearing on eBay just as quickly for inflated prices, they sold out in seconds and then appeared in the hands of various 'boxing people'. It's dishonest and very unfair to the people that wanted to go, but it happens.
Hatton's fans have undoubtedly been 'fleeced' here, but then that 'man of the people' shtick was always used to pack 20,000 pilgrims into the MEN to watch Hatton dust off WBU challenger after WBU challenger anyway. You could argue he's been fleecing fans from day one in that sense. It's a money-making business, and the Hattons seem to have done well for themselves.
Depends how you look at it. "Team Hatton" isn't just one man, so I don't think we can say the buck definately stops with Ricky.Spud wrote:But if everything is true and the article suggests there has been some in depth research going on - surely it blows out of the water peoples view that Hatton is a man of the people!!!Emerson Poncey Name Ghent wrote:Thom Hauser is proving more and more to be one of the best, if not THE best, sports journalist out there.Spud wrote: Boring .... are you a f*cking idiot or what - for me it is the most in depth sensational article written about the sport!!!

Not quite true, it's a grey subject. Resale of football tickets can be illegal. Boxing cannot be, as they wouldn't allow the touts on the premises if it was.Loftgroov wrote:Ticket touting is not illegal.rhino222 wrote: surely its no different than being a ticket tout......which is actually illegal !!!
There we go again have a pop at "Spud" - I am irrelevant to this situation.Twinkle Toes wrote:You've touted tickets yourself Spud, so although your stand is admirable, it is also very patronising.
I disagree with what has gone on with the Hatton/Mayweather allocation, but honestly why are some people on this forum looking at it with such wide eyed innocence?
Especially the like's of Spud and Rhino, who are far from whiter than white when it comes to putting their hand in their pockets to pay for a boxing ticket.
Pair of cúnts.
Terry - nice try - stop deflecting the issue - until you and others do - my only reply is on this particular thread:Terry D wrote:We should stop the spud bashing, if only for our eyesight.
