So Amir Kahn's next opponent is Martin Kristjansen for the WBO Intercontinental title. Never heard of the guy, anyone know of him.

The promoters will no doubt hang this one on the fact that he has only lost once, that was nearly three years ago and on points for the Euro title (Zoff).

He's only got a few stoppages in his wins (20 or so I seem to remember) so he qualifies as having the most important quality in a Khan opponent.

Only one fight last year when he won a split decision in his home country (six rounds) over a journeyman.

Genuine lightweight though. Khan should demolish him.

He's decent IMO... seen him a few times. No world beater but for my money an EBU level guy... best opponent Khan has faced in his career.

I have seen Kristjansen a couple of times, against the ancient Zoff and then against a Russian whose name i forget and who got disqualified for an indiscretion. Kristjansen is a decent boxer but does not punch hard and although it isn't as exciting as a Thaxton or Romanov bout we can pull out the old adage in these cases: "it could have been a lot worse"

Yeh if Romanov and Thaxton hadn't been mentioned in the run up we would all be happy with the fight.

I don't think its the worst fight but don't think its worthy of a WBO eliminator, however thats boxing I guess.

I didn't realise it was a WBO eliminator?! That one slipped by my attention. The WBO are a hoare of an organisation willing to bend over to anyone offering them a quick buck.

I've booked my ticket for this, should be a decent show. I like the way that the ticket has a booking fee, AND a transaction fee- I assume the transaction is us paying for the priviledge of being sold a ticket!

Back to the boxing- should eb a good show, Khan most likely to win on points.

7 other bouts at the moment - Derry Matthews defending his WBU title ( opponent not confirmed .) Also Michael Jennings V Ross Minter.

Also Liverpools Paul Smith V Steven Bendall from Coventry for English Middleweight title.

With 4 fighters being from the North West it seems an odd choice of location. It will be interestng to see if it sells out.

Does Allegedly have shares in the WBO?!?!

What next, Rees v Torres?

I will check him out probably got his recent fights see if he is a threat to khan.

Minter will more than likely withdraw from this one. Either injury or he won't fancy the job.

Its not confirmed but Warren was talking up that it were quite likely. As it stands its for the WBO sweatshop title similar the the one he won vs Mohammed Medjadji.

You mean unlike all the other sanctioning bodies?

Is it an eliminator or just an intercontinental fight. To be fair, although it shouldn't be one - I have heard of worst and Kristjansen has been long ranked high with the WBO.

From a promotional point of view it will be interesting to see how well this draws. I'd guess 95% of the interest would be in Khan, especially if Minter pulls out.

But at this stage of his career is Khan a big enough draw for a venue this size?

its a bit daft having it in london when all the best boxers on the show are from the northwest

why not use MEN - that exclusive deal aint exactly being utilised

Well, looks like Derry Matthews is off this show.

Given that the Minter fight is somewhat of a "maybe" it will be interesting to see how well this show does. A lot riding on Khan's shoulders I guess.

Warren is trying to build Khan as a national brand I think.

But as Don King scuppered a fight between Katsidis and Diaz, Diaz may well be stripped leaving Katsidis as "full" champ ratther than interim.

Easiest rout to a world title, without having to be tested against hard punchers keep the WBO title for the next 10 years while talking up moving up in weight. That sounds familer... don't do it Khan.

And considering Katsidis is fighting Casamayor(and not for the WBO interim title) it is possible he will be stripped too leaving a vacant title .

Well, the Paul Smith fight is now off the bill, and Matthews is fighting in a non-title bout.

annoys me, that, because when I booked my ticket they were advertising 4 title bouts, now we are down to 2.

Lets just hope they don't lose the Jennings-Minter fight too.

Now they have the debut of three brothers from Norfolk as part of this show. Most likely fighting some journeymen.
