Lame excuses from Hatton getting old...be a man fight Witter

Here is a list of excuses Hatton has used in the past
Please add to list if you can remember.
-"Junior Witter has no Title, I'm in in to win Titles and be the best in the business, let Junior go out and get one then we can fight" ( So Witter wins the most prestigious the WBC)
later the same year, Hatton says.....
"Titles mean nothing I have vacated so many of them, I only want the big fights" (Witter is the biggest fight at 140lbs)
-"He needs me for a pay day, I'm enjoying seeing him squirm, fighting in leisure centers. (What should that have to do with anything, if the moneys right Hatton should fight)
"I will never fight Witter, he's been riding my coat tails for years"
"I wont even consider fighting Witter, he's been trash talking and disrespecting me"
"I hate Witter"
"America is not interested in that fight"

Hatton could fight Rees, Mallignaggi, Torres or D. Hopkins but if he does will people cough up £15 or even a tenner for the PPV - Maybe he will fight on Setanta again - Fighting Mayweather in Vegas is a difficult act to follow, and although huge fights, DLH and Cotto would be stupid to make -The only really big one at LWW just has to be against Witter - I agree Hattons excuses dont hold water and soon even his most ardent fans will have difficulty defending his contradictory arguements for not facing Witter - He must have a good follow up fight and if he wants to say he is the best LWW then he must prove it and face Witter - If he does want to please his fans and remain Britains most popular fighter the excuses must stop and when team Hatton meet in Jan the decision has to be to challenge Witter.

He doesn't want to fight Witter!
So, over there is some cement, now build a bridge and get over it.

That's really a gay saying

Nah, the gay one would be, build a bridge and go under it.

I would rather a bridge was built so the two could meet in the middle.

"I don't want to fight Witter because I'm scaired!"
Nah he didn't realy say that. Witter needs to claim the fight though if he wants it, fight Torres Rees or Malignani

TBH Mayweather badmouthed Hatton - Is there any difference between Mayweather doing it or Junior Witter - The difference as far as I am concerned is all to do with money - Its hype, its what happens in boxing - Hatton needs to ignore all that and prove, if he can, he is the best at the weight - If he can he will earn a lot of respect, regain his confidence after his loss to Mayweather and clean up against Rees, Torres and Malignaggi.

Of course there is a difference. Mayweather was P4P #1, a five weight world champion and recognized by millions. A lot of his bad mouthing is all very pantomime as well. I mean who takes his rapper bad boy image seriously? There was more to it than money when fighting Mayweather. There would of been a LOT of prestige to go along with a win and it would of immortalised Hatton's name.
Witter is a Bradford fighter who has had a solid career but very few have even heard of him. All Hatton has to gain from fighting Witter is yet another title belt and a decent live gate maybe. There is no reason for Hatton to take the fight if he doesn't want it. Malignaggi woul probably be an equal risk style wise but would be a much more lucrative fight for Hatton. Hatton is very intelligent when it comes to career planning. If Witter was in Mayweathers position, the fight would of happened years ago but he's not. He's just an obscure Bradford world champion that Hatton can afford to ignore. In 20 years time when looking back at Hatton I suspect you won't find many saying "Well, he didn't fight Junior Witter."

After Witter comments playing the race card for his lack of success in terms of cash, I say Ricky dont give this man a pay day.

Vicky Fatton won't fight Jnr Witter because him and his b^tch are still crying & being sick over the beatdown PBF gave him, Fatton is lucky PBF did not go through with his promise to make Vicky his "Hoe" or maybe demand Fatton hand over his girl 4 one night so she could know what it was like to get done by a real man for once.
Vicky Fatton is terrified that after Jnr Witter Knocks him TFO all the retarded Man City fans will rush his house and demand all their money back after being taken for a ride.

He wasn't playing the race card, he wasn't saying I deserve a shot as a black man, in an interview he pointed out that black fighters aren't as marketable, thats true. He could have said a lot more like "isn't it funny that long time friend of bernard manning hatton says he hates me".
where does your vitriol for an honnest boxer who has taken every chance he has got in the game (even a fight for a title at a weeks notice). Who legitimatly asks why as the top challenger to hatton both domesticaly and now internationaly the man has never had the bollocks or decency to give him the fight he deserves!

Well said, Hatton's a little KUNT.....if i were Witters management and if Hatton is looking to fleece his moronic British fans somemore by fighting another BUM in the U.K next up i would get Witter to go ringside again and unleash some REAL disrespect.

We all know why Ricky fought Mayweather - To say Witter is just a Bradford fighter and to suggest he is obscure is to my mind a very unfair assessment of him - He does hold the most recognised belt and that alone should be reason enough to persue him - It would have huge British interest, and lets be honest Hatton doesnt need the money anyway - The Americans have enough of their own domestic dustups so why shouldnt we have ours - Sorry mate I still believe Witter is the fight Ricky should go for.

What a childish post, grow up - You do know your boxing so stick to writing proper constructive stuff rather than this nasty hateful crap.

Ali and Tyson were the most marketable fighters in the history of the sport.
It does'nt matter what colour you are(playing the race card at anytime for anything is a total fvcking cop out)
If you are exciting in the ring and have personality outside of it, your fights will sell...unfortunately, Junior does'nt tick the boxes for either(still a very good fighter though)

They are marcetable fighters but there have been more good black boxers, however if we look at the fuss around Joe Messi et al, I don't think its the whole reson but I do think that its certainly true that white fighters appear more marketable than black ones.

Since when do belts count for anything? They are just a means to an end to securing big money fights these days.
And you're right, Hatton does have enough money so why does he have to waste training on an obscure fighter from Bradford.

Because Witter is the only other person out there with a legitimate claim to be the best 140 lber out there?
I've long said that Hatton doesn't need Witter, and that he has other fish to fry; however, he's now made an absolute mint fighting Mayweather, and is set for life, so how about taking on your rivals at the weight class you are obviously meant to be fighting at?
Posted: 01 Jan 2008, 18:53
by Cannibal
To be honest though, I think Hatton already considers himself as #1 at 140, or at least did before he moved up.
So if he has that in his mind, why would he want the fight?
The only possible motivation for him to take it is if he actually wanted to beat up Witter which he obviously doesn't.
