AM HERE KAHN, DON’T BOTTLE IT!
For The Sake Of British Boxing – Jon Thaxton

· Thaxton vs. Kahn for the prestigious British Title

· Purse bids to be held Wednesday 9th January 2008 at Midday at theBritish Boxing Board of Control.

England - January 3, 2007

British Lightweight Champion Jon Thaxton says that after all the disrespectful and big talk from rival Amir Kahn he better be a man and step up and fight.

“Amir make sure your team shows up for the official purse bid on the 9th of January and let this be sorted in the good old fashion way, I know my promoter will be there ready to make this fight happen, no excuses. So for the sake of British Boxing don’t bottle it!”

“While you were busy shooting off your mouth, my promoter Mick Hennessy formally made your team a great offer of Three-Hundred Thousand Pounds for the fight. Your promoter refused the offer, saying “it was not acceptable” then a couple of days later it’s announced your fighting in my opinion, a feather fisted Dane, it’s obvious to me that someone hasn’t got confidence in your chin.”

“The British public deserve better, they deserve to see him in a real test and that’s me. Kahn has publicly stated the he wants the British Title, well I’ve got it and he has to come through me to get it!”

“ Lets give the British fans the fight they want to see, I feel our sport was almost ruined a few years back. When high profile fighters and promoters, chose to run after meaningless belts instead of pitting the best against the best. Last year our sport changed for the better I want to continue that trend in 2008, do you Amir?”

“If you find an excuse to weasel your way out of this fight, I will personally come ‘round to wherever you are and hand you the four feathers”

“So after all your bravado, you now need to put up or shut up, start walking the walk and not just talking the talk”

Jon Thaxton – British Lightweight Champion

Wellington - Before you put out BS press releases at least learn how to spell the fighter names you soppy pudendum!

Besides, what happened to "I'll fight Khan for nothing, for free, my sponsors will pay me a purse so Warren can have me for free"?

Like your latest release did Thaxton actually say these quotes or like before are they just quotes you have made up?

Was Amir Khan solely responsible for the "Lets be having you" press release quotes from last month. I very much doubt it

I will say it again he will do to Thaxton as he did to Earl, maybe not so spectacular but nevertheless, everyone saying Amir is gonna get "found out" ect. Amir is special we all know he is, hes probably the most gifted "boxer" we have from the UK barring Calzaghe ect. I can understand some people dont like him, a sort of Nasim esq to him but we all know this guy has got bag loads of more of anything Thaxton has got, i know alot of people would like our best british prospect to lose but i cant see why... Amir will hand old boy Thaxton his ass. This is from a neutral fan. Soon as he beat Greame Earl, Earl was passed it and had no punch resistance... Bollox... Maybe slightly but not as much as people were saying, the lads still young, its not like hes nocking on 40 or somethin...

He got beat by an awesome talent from the UK. As will Thaxton will, if Thaxton was so good why has his career been UK level? That is because the bloke is nothing but a slight banger. Earl has had some wars granted, the Bennett fight was awesome, But i think Thaxton is only in this for the ££, i dont blame the lad... Lads we have a talent here who has got MASSIVE potential to be the next Calzaghe-Hamed-Lewis here, i see alot of abuse coming his was all the time and i think its wrong. Whatever he does its not good enuff. I give him MASSIVE props for beating Earl cause if anyone said 1st round KO for Khan id a laughed in there face but he done it didnt he... Anyway ESSAY OVER! :D :TU: :D :P

Razor, surely you have to question Khan's team putting out a press release saying Thaxton is scared, waiting for a response from Hennessey then fighting a non puncher most people haven't heard of.

And i'm sure Warren could have made Thaxton v Khan an eliminator if he asked the WBO nicely enough.

I think Khan beats Thaxton quite comfortably, but surely you can understand his team putting out disrespectful statements towards a good honest British Champion is turning a lot of people off? Khan is being made to appear to smug for most peoples liking

For the record I don't want to see Amir get beat, I just want to see him in good competitive fights and I don't want to see him call out fighters then fight some obscure Dane

Where's he got a name wrong?

Khan is spelt incorrectly in the title and throughout.

The spelling mistake is very sloppy and borderline racist - anyone living in modern Britain should be able to spell "Khan"

Hard to argue with Thaxton here. BTW Thaxton, unlike some, is actually articulate & witty enough to make comments like these himself.

Dont come out with that horrific press release from SN last month calling Thaxton a bum then sign to fight yet another unknown, obscure import with no punch power. Sure, it convinces idiots like Razor, but few others.

Against Limond we saw Amir for what he really is. An accident waiting to happen. His subsequent 2 opponents have offered no resistence whatsoever. Once he gets hit back, he'll go back to the same chinny amateur.

Misspelling a f#ckin name is RACIST???

Limond would beat Thaxton.

Limond was patient, kept a tight guard, good head movement and was accurate with his shots.

Thaxton looked horrible and was losing at one stage against Stewart who Khan would of blasted In around 3 rounds. Stewart was only jab and use his height and reach.

Thaxton can punch but his shots are too wild and should be easily seen and countered by Khan.

It was meant to be ironic. Next time I will use the appropriate internet smileys to denote my intention.

Ah shoz bud thought you were some middle aged middle class cardigan wearing political correctness bandwagon lets turn everyday banter into a racial minefield type. I stand corrected and now bestow the title of 'c#nt' on myself, fully & wholeheartedly!

This is a waste of time and energy and akin to Witter calling Hatton out. This fight will only happen when allegedly has inside word that Thaxton is there for the taking.

OR - noted.

In which case, you are a C+nt..... :TU:

Seriously though, it is not in any way racial but it is really sloppy PR to spell the object of your ire incorrectly.

Thaxton has turned it down three times already and three times for career best paydays and despite his public smokescreen stating he would fight for nothing - he will take the fight for money only. On his last performance he will go the same way as Earl IMO.

Was it a decent offer? Was it near to the 300k offered to Khan? not expecting any answers, but they're the questions that need to be asked

Anything official to back this up with, or just baseless forum chitter chatter?

Boxingchat,
You know Thaxton never turned down any fight,
why don't you put out a Press Release of the offers you've made?
Oh that's right there never was any, stop Bull shitting!
Come on... put your money where you mouth is.
It's simple, stop making Joan Rivers cups of tea and just get down to the purse bids?
it's obvious that this upcoming purse bid has you all nervous, I bet the staples in Joans face are melting.
