Surely if Small boxes as he can he wins this but Tak can still bang I guess therefore you can't rule him out.

Even at this stage of careers surely this is a crossroads fight for both men, Tak cannot come back if he loses here I think. For Small it would be a long road back if he don't get the W.

Intriguing kind of fight, even more so with Mitchell/Johanneson off the card, what do you guys think

Small got stopped on his feet by Pryce and it was a bit premature for me.

Small was good in spurts and he was giving Bradley some trouble with his speed.

I think Tak should beat Small who can make another video for youtube after...

Small has two things that will give Tak hell - speed and movement. Tak is very flat-footed and slow to get going, and he'll struggle to pin down Small. Tak does have decent power, but I don't think he has enough to blow Small out with one shot.

I'll take Small by mid-way stoppage.

Don't agree stoppage was premature - SMall's legs were gone. Watch him stagger around after the stoppage.

But this is a v interesting fight. Not sure at all about the outcome.

Stoppage against Pryce wasn't premature, Small was a couple of punches away from being KO'd , the ref did him a favour.

Small was blowing out his ass after 5 rounds against Pryce, will be interesting to see if he will do the same against Tak.
If he does than Tak can break him down for a stoppage around the 8th.
If he has got his stamina sorted then he can win.

Former world title challenger Takaloo picks up the pieces at 32 against flashy Londoner Anthony Small for the vacant Southern Area light-middleweight title at York Hall next Saturday.
Small, six years younger, also looks to get back on track.
Takaloo challenged Daniel Santos for the WBO light-middleweight title back in 2002 and was outscored over 12 bloody rounds, despite dropping the tasty Puerto Rican. He was down himself from a brutal Wayne Alexander left hook a few years later, and they could have counted to a 100. His recent stint at welterweight proved just as mixed: he outscored Belfast's cagey Eamonn Magee but dropped a narrow decision to Chorley star Michael Jennings in Cardiff nine months ago in his last outing.
Still, his fight with Jennings (and Tony Doherty's patient destruction of a brave Taz Jones) proved the highlight of a long Millennium Stadium night topped by Joe Calzaghe against Pete Manfredo and looked much, much closer from ringside than it did on TV. "Lurcher" Jennings moved around, potshotted but failed to 'sit down' on his punches (which cost him against Young Muttley) and Tak worked hard all the way through 12 absorbing rounds, particularly to the body. Much of his body work made you wince in fact and scores of 115-114 and 115-113 looked about right, although inevitably one judge was way off at 117-111 (all scores for Jennings).
So the Margate puncher hardly looks 'shot' after 10 years as a pro, especially back up at light-middleweight where he's blown away the likes of Scott Dixon, Jim Rock and a previously unbeaten Anthony Farnell - he's taken out 17 of his 25 beaten opponents.
Small, a pro only three years, concedes masses of experience but bemuses his opponents (in and out of the ring) with shots from unusual angles and plenty of brashness. Unbeaten in his first 17, he stepped up against Welsh renaissance man Bradley Pryce in his last outing in the summer and faded after a bright start and was stopped in seven. Pryce proved too seasoned, but Small also faded against American Walter "Two Guns" Wright in Newcastle last March and staggered home in the eighth and last round to a split decision. So the man self-nicknamed "SugarRayClayJonesJunior" hardly fights as well as he talks and was labelled a "maverick" in training by coach Spencer Fearon, although he showed real guts against Wright and will undoubtedly have learned from the Pryce experience.
He does have talent.
It's well known in the trade Takaloo doesn't like 'movers', so expect Small to get on his bike and fight in much the same way Jennings did, only with more snap on his punches. Takaloo has a shout, of course, but one has to fancy the fresher Small, unless he fades alarmingly, to come through.

the more i think about this fight , the more i see Tak outlasting Small. I just don't think Small has the stamina.

How many rounds is it?? If its 12 small may lose.

I agree. Small was rushed too quickly from 6 to 12 against Pryce, although Pryce is a different class.

If this is above 8 I don't see Small winning it, he needs a few more bouts before working towards 12 again.

I dont know Anthony personally, but I ahve met him a couple of times informally. He is a nice genuine fella. And a fcukong good fighter too

My brother trained with him for a bit and concurs that he is a genuine man with great skill

I think Takaloo has a great chance in this fight. He'll be much stronger at the weight than when he lost to hugely underated Michael Jennings and i think if Small cant put him away early, Tak will be too fit and too strong and will get a late stoppage or decision. I cant wait for this one.

I think this fight boils down to two things - how much does Tak have left in the tank and how much has Small learned from the Pyrce fight.

If Small doesn't pace himself and Tak is happy to do what Pryce did and allow himself to be backed up, parrying shots then I fancy a Tak win from the middle rounds. But if Small has learned, almost like Haye to pace himself, pick his shots, don't go head hunting then I fancy a Small victory in the late rounds.

If Tak has nothing left, moving to the verve of journeyman, then I fancy a Small blitz almost like Khan vs. Earl.

I just get the feeling we will see a domestic version of Curry v McCrory, with Mr Anthony Small as the Cobra

I nearly always seem to pick Tak in these close call fights and nearly always he loses... Jennings, Alexander etc. He looked like he had nothing left vs Jennings - but stylewise I think he has a shout vs Small. Tak still has a very decent chin.

My call will be based on the tall of the tape - who has the Height and reach advantage.... I aint sure of the top of my head. Whoever has it, is my pick.

If small has to work inside (if he is smaller) then I suspect Tak will find the punch... if Small is bigger, then I expect him to box his way to a comfortable decision win.

Its not just the tale of the tape Stu. In terms of reach its not Darts. Small can get in with his feet behind the jab and throw any kind of punch off it and get out.

When you have a big edge in speed, reach is not a big factor.

Just look at Tyson. Even Foster Junior proved that against AAA. His overhand right was like a radar. I bet he has been nailing people with that since he was a kid.

This is a ten round fight. If Small paces himself he should win. Tak looked crap against jennings.

For me, Small should win. After losing to Pryce last time out, I reckon Small will be highly motivated to win, & win impressively. An impressive win is the only way to help Anthony get back into the mix.

I trained with Anthony when he was at Fitzroy Lodge. I can honestly say, that from my point of view, Anthony is a nice guy, geuine person. Not the flashy, brash & arrogant person the general public think he is.

All the flashiness, it's just playing to the crowd, for entertainment value. I must admit, that some of the things Small says sometimes I don't agree with, but what person do any of us agree with or like all the time. We can't please everyone all of the time.

Basically, it's now or never for Small. I expect to win. His speed & movement will be too much for Takaloo in my view.
