Doubt Warren sends him over. If he doesn't, then it won't look very good on Arthur will it. Who knows, maybe Golden Boy or Sycuan are calling AA's bluff. Or maybe the 2 camps haven't even talked about this. Boxrec may have just looked up WBO ratings/news and decided...

Think there is some confusion over this one. I also saw somewhere else it is likely to happen but will go to purse bids.

Guzman has until 21st of Jan to notify WBO of his plans.

If you're Guzman and somebody says: "You'll lose your title unless you fight a guy who just went through life and death against Stephen Foster", it's not going to be a tough decision to make!

big article in todays daily record says guzman wants fight asap, wants to get it out the way.

I can imagine Guzman wants to get Arthur done and dusted, which he will have no trouble at all in doing if this fight takes place.

Not sure who Bunce was confusing Guzman with though when he said something along the lines of 'Guzman knocks everyone out'. He wasn't thinking of Valero was he? Guzman hasn't scored a KO for a while.

Looks like the promoters are in a standoff. Golden Boy want to keep the title in America and get Arthur out of the way. Warren wants to make it at home, win purse bids so his fighter has home advantage and more money than if the champ's handlers were staging it in America.

I still think Guzman will drop the belt - especially if Warren wins a purse bid (see Harrison-Marquez negotiations) - but it will reflect badly on AAA that he didn't take the chance to FIGHT THE CHAMP. AAA will end up getting the vacant title, but he's looking like hell at the weight.

Not great for British boxing's worldwide reputation. But it raises AAA's stock financially and domestically, and I think it gives Kevin Mitchell a target. It also gives UK fighters more incentive for a big round robin of big fights at 130-lbs & then possibly up at 135. WBO belt could spur a classic British era, as per middleweight 1990-1995. Arthur-Foster Jr may be the start of a great series of British wars.

i caught that foster fight for the first time last night.

Good post and let's hope this mooted round robin becomes a reality. I agree AAA has weight issues, but think a lot of his shortcomings are down to the fact that he's been vastly overrated for a long time. He'd be seriously exposed by any top 5 130 pounder.

Guzman does not hit that hard at super featherweight and Arthur has a good chin. Guzman is hideously overated.

Guzman is absolute class, not only are his skills exceptional, but he's good to watch too, his last fight was very impressive indeed.

arthur may as well have no chin on the world stage, hes been rocked many times at domestic level.

I hope he mans up and takes this fight and I hope Guzman for some reason refuses to let go of the WBO title giving frankie no excuses.

Franky will arse about, Guzman will get fed up drop the belt and Arthur will fight Kakhabar Gogohdgsjdhywsjsnadze for the vacant title with SN claiming Guzman ducked his man even though he fights the Marquez-Pacquiao winner instead of AAA.
