OK, we're all excited about what Setanta are offering with their schedule of domestic and international bouts. Setanta are more committed to boxing and have done good things to bring boxing to a wider audience.

So Sky have been scaling downm letting Setanta get all the major fights etc. But I still want to see some international fights on a week delay. And most importantly, I think they have big potential for cracking domestic bouts.

I want to see guys like Munyai and Olusegun getting TV dates. I want Sky not to give the guys that have lost to them, or are ducking them, TV dates. It would be bloody simple enough and if all goes well we could see these 2 closing in on world title shots, and in quality bouts in the meantime.

Also, I'd like to see prospects like John Murray, Paul Truscott, Darren Barker, Paul Appleby and John Fewkes in either very regular fights (ie undercard coverage), or absolute quality matchups with domestic opponents (for main events).

I want to see these fighters to be in must-see fights and to grow, with a minumum of bullshit (you know, no quick WBO ranking, no WBU bollox etc), into Euro and possibly world level campaigners.

Above all, I want Haye to smash Macca's jaw, and have a heavyweight campaign on Sky Sports.


Anyone have any views on what we should demand from Sky's boxing coverage?

What I would like to see from ALL broadcasters applies to sky. No contracts with promoters, or certainly no exclusive ones.

A mix of the best domestic action, and international fights, plus a round up of what has happened in the world of boxing once a month.

Some midweek action would be good. I remember about ten years ago, Eurosport used to show some good midweek boxing, from places like the York Hall. Small scale stuff, but entertaining enough to watch, for sure.

the BBC do seem interested in showing delays. let's not forget though, the beeb dropped boxing after haye lost to thompson and after audley went nowhere.

think sky have a fair amount to offer. they would need a star even with their cut down coverage. need some charisma and excitement.

anyway, the Sky schedule looks drab. a good start would be something like Murray-Thaxton. Perhaps Murray-Fewkes with Thaxton maybe getting in an extra defense to keep the Lonsdale, all on the same show would be nice.

I don't have Sky (can't justify the money) so I definitely want more boxing on Terrestrial TV!

What annoys me is that we are forced to spend £150 on BBC. I'd rather have the choice, not pay it and not watch BBC and get Setanta or Sky as an alternative.

For them not to scale down an realise that the two biggest fights of 2007 they had, and they were the two fights that got peoples juices going and did well in the ratings.

All I want is for Sky to realise that Boxing still can produce numbers.

Yes, it was nostalgic of the 2000-2003 days when we used to get fairly regular midweek shows. Used to love them; they broke the week up a treat.

1) I want them to bankroll Carl Frochs, Junior Witters, David Hayes, Jamie Moores and others paths to the Stars.

2) To cherry-pick and show regular competitive British/Euro scene boxing as they have been doing.

Broadcasters should not be in the business of 'bankrolling fighters' it simply does not work. What you end up with is fighters coasting through boring matchups whilst feeding off their contract.

Broadcasters should bid for the right to show fights of significance, whilst smaller events are covered by deals with the promoters.

but if Setanta and FW are tied up in an exclusive contract as it appears and ITV are only interested in Khan fights, then it only leaves Sky in the UK to bid for the fight. Bravo and Channel 5 aren't going to be able to pay the BIG bucks to attract a decent level of opposition and due to the way the BBC's funded they aren't go to be able to secure the very top level opponents IMO, as oppose to WBU roadsweepers. When I said Sky should bankroll the fighters I meant so that they can attract decent name fighters over here for the likes of Froch, Haye and Witter.

Amateur aside, they dropped it completely when Peter Fincham became controller. He absolutely hates boxing and had stated it would never be shown on BBC while he was in charge.

Since he's left the Beeb have been a lot more interested in broadcasting fights, however they are still concerned about the value for licence fee payers money issue, which you can't really blame them for after chucking money at Audley.

From Sky, I really want to see the best fighters that they have access to. The African imports, the young UK prospects, David Haye (hopefully coming off a win over Mac). We need to have stuff that's actually leading to somewhere. Rematches between guys like Power and Napa don't cut it. If Sky do my suggestions, then I'll be chuffed with their coverage.

Also, if there are great matchups out there that can be made without Mr Warren, then get stuck in (Johanesson-Gomez a great example).

Also, when British fighters are going in to world title fights - like Haye-Mormeck, Elcock-Abraham - I actually would like to see Sky break the bank and give them some bleeding support.

Sky are a let down and have pissed me off for years - I have had enough of being screwed by Sky - You buy SS1 for the boxing and they put it on SS2 for so many fights to get you to have that also - Then there is a big fight, such as Hatton, and they put it on PPV to get even more out of you, they even do the same thing with football - Its the same with films, Sky are ripping us off left, right and centre - Thank goodness for Setanta who seem a pretty fair lot at the moment - Lets hope they dont go the same way as Sky when they have more customers.

I want Sky to show all the big international fights not on Setanta and all the domestic fights not on Setanta or ITV. Simple as that. If memory serves me right, I don't think they've shown a live international fight since September (Pavlik-Taylor), apart from the Hatton-Mayweather PPV (at an additional £15.99, of course). All the others (Diaz-Diaz, Cotto-Shane, Barrera-Pac 2, Malignaggi-Ngougjo etc.) have been on good ol' Setanta. It's time Sky got their act together and, at 37 quid a month, I don't think that's asking too much.

Canceled Sky a few months back, so I want Eva Mendes to sit on my face.
