Skleton looked awful just shadowboxing.... and according to Bunce Chagaev is one of th emost gifted heavies ever.

BUt really I think he has no chance. If CHagev can deal with Valuev's size he can deal with Skleton's.

If Matt can throw caution to the wind from the opening bell and become a bit of a pucnhing octopus, he has a great chance.

Chagaev only stops him on fatigue.

Matts got a great chance, fast pace and walk through walls.

Odds are really stacked against Matt, and bookies have it about right, but he seems to have the chin to stick around for more than a few rounds, and with heavyweight punches being thrown, you can never tell what's going to happen for certain.
I've seen the Russian put on some impressive punching displays, but usually against the journeymen type. There's a chance he could blast Matt out of there - let's hope it's a good fight anyway, and it'd be great to see Skelton cause a few scares over there.

I'm even looking foward to seeing Trinidad/Jones later that night.

I think had the fight been in Britain then Skelton had a chance. Chagaev is alright, but Sprott was holding his own against him (losing but it looked like he could win) and he's lost around 18/19 out of 24 rounds with Skelton.

Think its going on points, and it could be controvesial.... remember, Chagaev didn't dominate Valuev and isn't a big heavyweight. Skelton could outwork him and I think it could be a case of is it going to be Skelton's quantity or Chagaev's quality.... and I think Chagaev will get the nod.

Don't discount chagaev stopping skelton, ruslan isn't amazing but he is worlds better than skelton's level of opp so far.

i hope skelton will throw a lot and just put it on the line rather than plod to a dull loss and a paycheck.

My heart says Skelton but my mind says Chagaev. Chagaev beat Virchis, Sprott, Ruiz & Valuev. He did Krence in 5 Skelton took 7, Sprott took skelton to points Chagaev beat him in 8 and skelton is rough round the edges but i think it will go to points and Chagaev UD12.

Chagaev is in a league above Williams and Sprott who are the best Skelton has fought so far - Skelton looked good as he went through the field with early KOs against pretty ordinary HW opponents but that all came to an end when he fought Danny Williams and got involved in a close up confrontation - In his second fight with Williams he was quick on his feet and kept his distance, which paid off for him - Not at all sure what his gameplan will be against Chagaev - One thing we do know is, to win the title he must either KO Chagaev or win conclusively on points - Of the two options the KO is his best, and probably his only chance of becomming WBA champion so somehow he just has to land the big one to win - Pretty sure he will give everything he has, at least for the first half of the fight - If by half way he finds himself outclassed and running out of idears he may just fight to survive - I hope I am proved wrong but I have to agree with the Setanta team, this is going to be a win for the champion.

Ruslan is no great shakes to be honest, but he's still miles better than Matt.

Actually, Chagaev versus a fit and firing Danny Williams fixes to be a far better contest than this one - Chagaev has the boxing skills and ring smarts to beat either, but whereas Danny would have the concussive power to score knock downs and perhaps even a knock out, Skelton will only hit hard enough to push the big Uzbek back (at least, in my opinion).

In Matt's favour, he isn't likely to be stopped either, as Chagaev is small for a modern heavyweight and fights tactically. That does give him the opportunity to "give it as go" but I don't think he gets beyond a whispered "just maybe". For me, Chagaev on points, possibly by as much as nine rounds.

Yes, John Rawling did say that. He also mentioned Chagaev's close fight with Ruiz, saying he wasn't the second coming of Ali. Skelton's clearly the underdog, but the result of this isn't a foregone conclusion. At those odds, I might have a little flutter on Matt and I'll certainly be cheering him on.
