First of all I have to say well done to Matt, he did not disgrace himself did well, I thought the fight was closer than the scorecards suggested. I think Haye would beat Chageav if they fight. I dont think Ruslan much cop.

Listened to it on the radio sounds like the lad done alright for himself but just isn't world championship material which is what we already know.

Well done skelton and well done Frank for getting him the shot hope he got a good pay day and comes back to the british scene or retires when he gets back.

On a side point the fight is somewhat a victory for those of us who belive ametre boxing is an important proving ground as we had the gent with experiance beating the guy without.

Right now can we have some unifications please.

I thought the Setanta commentary leaned heavily towards Skelton. IMO the scorecards were fair, and I also had it 117-111.

Matt fought much better than most people thought he would but I think Chagaev looked very rusty after so long out.

Chageav is not a great champion at all. I personally think Matt would have won the Euro title against Dimtrenko. I think he could beat the winner of Krasniqui v Dimtrenko (Sorry about spelling). I know he lack style but he shows great heart.

Exaclty - Setanta were trying to keep it interesting I had it six rounds to Chagaev with the addition point taken off that had Chag winning by 7 points!

Close fight, hard to score because the signal on my dads tv was crap but the scorecards were too wide.

Chag won close still though.

Both breathed heavily after so much Inside and leaning on each other.

Shame Skelton wasn't fighting Maskaev or Ibragimov. Sultan was horrible against Holyfield.

Skelton's Euro level though.

Yep, I was the same.

Chag landed some nice clean shots, skelton took them well..not impressed by Ruslan as a complete Fighter.

While Klitschko's the clear no.1 at the moment, I really like Povetkin from what I've seen of him. I'd favour him to beat Chagaev and Ibragimov already and he could be ready for Vlad in a year or two. As for Haye, I just can't make up my mind as while I think he'll carry his power up, I can't help but feel that the likes of Vlad will just be too big and hit too hard for him.

Vlad is poor he cannot take a punch. He an accident waiting to happen thats another topic. I think Skelton is easily Euro level shame he did not take that fight ayear ago with Maskaev

Wlad's overrated as the clear No 1 but good job Skelton wasn't fighting him.

I do think Haye should have moved up to heavyweight it there for the taking

I don't think we will realy know that anyone is the clear No. 1 at HW, although one thing I will say is that the only one who appears to be improving in his carrer is Changaev.

Think Haye would do well to move up to HW soon but he will likly not be fighting for it for another couple of years, can't see people falling over themselves to fight the fellow.

It wasn't as bad as you say.

Skelton not going to quit according to bbc website. He should fight again soon. I dont think having these gaps is helping. Sports network seem to be putting on less shows these days

Yes I agree about the undercards but some fighters need to be on more frequently, Skelton is one he should have been fighting Euro level fighters earlier. He showed tonight he Euro level.

He sounds quite philisophical in his post fight interveiw with 5live. Must be gutting though.

I had it by 5 points to Chagaev. I too thought the commentary were very biased.

Chagaev looked rusty and his timing was poor.

A messy fight, as expected, but Skelton aquited himself well - all credit to Matt for putting it together as best he could.

Chagaev is better than he looked tonight, I am sure.

First of all well done to Matt who put in a fantastic effort. Secondly i think the commentary was strange and they made it closer than it was, i had it about right 117-111. Chagaev was landing the quality shots from about round 5 onwards. He looked rusty but grinded it out, Matt was punished when he leant in and left himself exposed. Good effort and i think he can come again for the winner of the Euro (Dimitrenko-Krasniqi).
