What are people's thoughts?

It all depends which Tarver turns up but if it's the one that fought Hopkins then Clinton can win it

Great news for Clinton if this is correct.
Tarver is just on the slide , but not by much. So i'd pick Clinton to outwork him for a decision, but he could get robbed

Though I think he may lose.

However, I think it will be superb entertainment,.

Good high profile fight for Woods, hopefully the winners of these 2 bouts can square off.

I make Woods a massive favourite for this one providing he can get passed Tarvers jab and awkwardness (I can't see that Clinton has had much experience against Southpaws), Tarver might be potent in the first 3-4 rounds, but once his initial sting and zip has gone I see Woods' superior workrate taking over with Woods taking a fairly wide UD. Tarver looked like an old fighter against Nard and in the majority of his Johnson and Jones bouts, whereas I don't think Clinton has deteriated much at all. He'll be the fresher IMO, but admittedly I haven't seen AT's last couple of fights

I'll be raping the bookies on this one if they put some decent odds up on a Clinton win (hopefully this one will do better than my Earl prophecy)

Great stuff! Will give Woods deserved exposure and he can outwork Tarver. Tarver is a spell of his former self and his former self wasn't that great to be honest.

My most enjoyable collection was Danny to beat Tyson.

I had a very similar bet, but mine was a treble (Chagaev Pts, RJJ Pts and Esham Pickering to win). Only had a fiver on it, but it returned just over £40. Also had a fiver on a football treble Everton to beat Wigan, Man City-West Ham draw and a Liverpool-Villa draw which returned £128, which sort of makes up for the dire run I was on previous to last weekend

Hatton to beat Kostya inside the distance at 5/1 and Danny beating Tyson 6/1 were definately my most enjoyable collections.

I managed to get Hatton v Tszyu in round 11. Put down £1 (Dirk and I split between rounds to spread our chances), we got £25 back.

As long as Woods doesn't get stopped I think he wins this. I can't see how Tarver can outwork him.

Woods should counter punch Tarver to a points win. Wood's Is better when he doesn't trade like his moments with Johnson 3 and Gonzalez 2.

Depends which Tarver shows up and how much he has left up. I don't think a big tight defense fast southpaw is a good match up for the slow footed counterpunching Woods who lacks serious KO power or explosiveness. I also think a well timed fast long straight right hand is the way to beat Tarver or pressure. Clinton Woods like Roy Jones is far better with his left hook than with his straight right to the extent where the right hand gets neglected. Against a rangy fast southpaw this is a bad thing

Tarver at his best is a level ahead of Woods. Compare the Glen Johnson match ups. Tarver beat Johnson twice for my money. Woods in most peoples opinions lost 3 times to Johnson. Tarver goes 2-1 against RJJ, while Woods gets outclassed (yes RJJ was older then but still).

The other factor is Tarver is OLD - 40 is it now? But how old is Woods going to be? 36? Woods must be slowing himself.

TARVER UD - if its in America Tarver will get the close rounds anyway

Tarver has looked poor against both Muriqi and Santiago, he needs to up his levels or Woods can beat him. Never the most active Boxer even at his prime, Tarver has a tendency to be too economical and go to sleep for periods. It's a tough but winnable one for Clinton and a new name is always a good sign

Actually that's unfair. Clinton will have his mandatory (Gonzalez) in Autumn. Tarver II will have to be early '09. Winner fights RJJ. Winner fights the winner of the IBF eliminator (Gonzalez)

Behave mate, an overrated Tarver v a solid yet uninspiring Woods? I like Clinton, but Hopkins v Calzaghe will be an intriguing match-up.

Woods' 3rd fight with Johnson was more impressive than any of Tarver's performances vs Johnson, IMO. Tarver was appalling in the 1st Johnson, backing away and looking horrible with no stamina. In the 2nd, Tarver basically won by arm punching and staying off the ropes...Woods meanwhile actually traded quality blows with Johnson 3rd time, and as many ppl think Woods deserved it as thought Johnson got "robbed."

Williams to KO Tyson in 4 was my joint biggest win, alongside Rahman to beat Lewis. Both got me £250.
