Did you see Colin fight on Sat? Surely he took this fight at very short notice as he looked very out of shape? What his and your plans for 2008?

I think this is a great idea. King tried something like this in Australia at the end of 2006 with the likes of Brock and Sanders, but it fell through.

Let us know who the fighters are Billy, as I might be interested in seeing this.

Hate to mention this guys, but if these are unsantioned fights (so called prize fights) can they not have an adverse effect on your official fights and implications with the respective boards?

Possibly these are all legal and above board fights but I thought they put a stop to multiple fights in one night, or was it a set number of rounds that was enforced?

Heard a rumour that Sky TV are involved and Barry hearn is the promoter, but don't know how true.

Billy is right, if it comes off somebody like Dolan will be close to winning it.

Dunno about one in Australia, but I remember one in Missisippi during the 90s that got a load of attention because of the $1 million prize. I think Derek Williams was involved and lost in the quarter finals to Jose Ribalta. Tony Tubbs won it I think.

Possibly some form of reality TV show thing to get round the rules of boxing then?

Were there any stipulations to what sort of boxer / fighter could enter? other than weight? Enterance fee or that? I'dlove to know if Hearn is involved and if the fighters have been hand picked or names taken and pulled out of a hat.

Dirk, I reckon Belshaw could be a contender even after a long spell out of the ring. could be interesting as his promoter was in the paper this week saying that they were having problem finding opponents for him from the mainland UK, and that they were having to go further afield to find journeyman type opponents.

Though chances of Belshaw competing are probably slim as he has a fight in London around the same date.

yeah its barry hearn that is doing it i was there when he was telling colin about it

yeah i went he took it at just over a weeks notice and really wasnt fit at all but it was a good pay day and his a tough man soznowski really wasnt all that i thought he would be a lot better although colin lost very clearly 100-91 most rounds were quite competitive colin will be fighting in that tournament and says he is gonna get really fit for this which i hope he does cos domestically outside the top 5 or so he takes some beating. i am fighting 2nd march in pompey to start off with then whatever i get offered afterwards

Gonna have to see this if Colin is fighting. I haven't seen him since he beat Francis.

There was the "fistful of dollars" (or something like that) more recently in the states also... Mo Harris won it. Likes of Tim Witherspoon, Tony Thompson involved also.

No reason it wouldn't be sanctioned so long as the fighters involved are licensed to do the max. numbers of rounds per night. Three fights of three rounds each equals a max of nine rounds, so any fighter licensed for 10 should be allowed. And if people like Michael Pinnock and Keith Jones can be licensed to do 10 for Area and Masters titles, then no reason why anybody who isn't a raw novice shouldn't be eligible.

The one in Auz was called superfighter and had some top names lined up (JC Gomez, O neil bell to name two off the top of my head). It fell through due to funding I believe.

It was always going to be a bitch to organise too, just getting all those boxers (not to mention their promotors and managers) to commit to the dates.

micky steeds was offered it but turned it down because he's fighting at crusier now
