LOCKETT/PAVLIK

Is there any chance that this middleweight fight will happen? Gary Lockett is WBO#1. Can see it being like the Arthur-Guzman negotiations. The champ considering vacating (especially Pavlik who has another belt anyway). If negotiations happen, Warren will surely try to win purse bids and get home advantage for Lockett (Frank certainly looks after his fighters). Home advantage or maybe the champ merely vacates...

The WBO belt is surely worth more to a UK promoter of a little known guy Lockett, than to Pavlik and Arum, who can get on HBO any time thanks to spectacular punching power.

Could this fight wind up in Wales? It would be interesting. And could pave the way to Pavlik vs Joe Calzaghe perhaps (with them being stablemates etc). Pavlik wants to unify the division so surely he'd want to keep his belt...

Interesting fight if it comes off, though I imagine Kelly and HBO might prefer to drop the WBO title if forced to take the fight, as it's not going to make much difference to Pavlic's career.

If it did come off, Lockett has a decent chance at the upset, as he probably has the ability to put anyone in big trouble if he connects cleanly. A much better chance than say Arthur has against Guzman...which is no chance at all.

It's been a wasted career so far, I really hope FW steps Lockett up this year.

They seem to be planning Pavlic's career as if he's already won the Taylor rematch - but I reckon Taylor's a good bet to turn the tables of Pavlic next week.

Still, Pavlik keeps the middleweight titles win or lose in the Taylor rematch, which is at super middleweight.

You can bet your last shilling Pavlik will drop this like a hot potato if for some reason he was mandated to fight Lockett. Then Gary can pick up the pieces and fight for the vacant belt. Why else would he be number one rated by a sanctioning outfit purporting to be a world title organisation? Who has he beaten that is anywhere near world class?

What's next, Albert Sosnowski as number one for the WBO Heavyweight crown?
