Two crude and technically limited but exciting fighers. Prime for prime, at middleweight.
Benn comes out swining in the first round. He would throw wild bombs and catch Miranda.
Miranda would go down maybe once or twice. Benn on the verge of stopping Miranda early but by third round punches himself out. Round 4-5 see battle of attrition as Benn tries to mug and maul Miranda with foul tactics, but Miranda, with his incredible heart, fights back. Benn begins round 6 again throwing bombs like he did in the first round but this time Miranda--seemingly his head cleared--begin to time Benn coming in. Round 7 tide has turned. Miranda counters Benn well off the ropes like he did in the Abrahams fight. Benn is dispirited. He still throws occasional bombs but only out of desperation. Miranda has completely taken over. Round 8 Miranda backs up Benn and throws barrage of punches that hurt Benn.
Benn down. Gets up at count 8 but Mirand lands more clean punches, and ref rescues Benn from further punishment
Pantera KO8 Nigel Benn.

Your thoughts?

My thoughts are that you credit Miranda a little too highly. And Benn was certainly better than Arthur Abraham. Benn is a level above Miranda in terms of technique and heart and probably punches harder too, Benn by KO6 in an exciting fight.

Sure it would have been a see-saw affair early, but Benn would ride the storm and stop Miranda in the middle rounds.

Benn is better in every facet to Miranda.

Benn is also a dangerously fast starter. I think it's very possible that he could stop Miranda in the early rounds. But Benn also had a tendency to punch himself out. Maybe this cost him the Watson fight.
In the heart/will department I'd give a slight edge to Miranda. In Abrahams fight Miranda showed that he could withstand a lot of pressure and punishment, and come back. I don't think Benn had this quality,--at least he didint show it at middleweight. This fight will be decided on who has more guts, and I think Pantera wins, not because he's better than Benn but because he has shown that he has more heart/will to win on championship level
More heart and will to win? Ever seen the McClellan fight? Benn lost to Eubank and Watson at Middleweight but never through a lack of guts. And the important point also is that Watson and Eubank were much better fighters than Miranda. As was Iran Barkely and arguably Doug DeWitt, both knocked out by Benn.

I like watching Pantera but he has very little boxing ability, just power and determination. When he stepped up to a comparable Benn/Eubank/Watson level he was ko'd by Pavlik.

Benn is in a different class than Miranda!

Benn at 160 likely stops Miranda early and Benn at 168 likely wins a clear decision as he really had two totally different styles at those two weights. His early career he was very crude, but at 168 he turned into a very competent boxer/puncher!

It would have been fun while it lasted, and Miranda wouldn't have been without a chance. I mean, if Lou Gent and Mauro Galvano could sting Benn...

You must have missed the Benn - Logan fight. And the Benn - McClellan war.

Miranda has yet to beat anyone approaching Benns level.
An early stoppage against a past it Eastman, just after Miranda had been dancing like a chicken from an Eastman shot is hardly the stuff of legend...

Benn by KO within 7 rounds.

When a man Kelly Pavlik finally stood up to the bully Miranda he layed Edison out, not to mention Allen Green when he wasnt running dropped Miranda.

It'd be fun for a few rounds but Benn would destroy Miranda.

Wow, thanks guys for all the support for my son's namesake.

When I spotted this thread, I honestly thought that most would go for Miranda being that he's a hot commodity now & fresher in everyone's memories. But, thankfully the majority of you remember the warrior that Benn was at his best.

And yes, I most certainly did name my only baby boy Nigel Benn when he was born in '98.

Being a lifelong boxing fan, a former fighter myself, a huge fan of Benn's & of direct UK ancestory, what else COULD I have named him? 8)

( and no, as many of you might recall, "Joe Kurtz" isn't my real name, just my screen name, so Nigel's name is Nigel Benn Allcorn not the awkward sounding & decidedly UN-British Nigel Benn KURTZ ... )

This is kind of a dumb question given that We've already seen the best of Benn but haven't necessarily seen the best of Miranda yet. So of course people are going to say Benn would win, he had a full career whereas Miranda only broke onto the top scene not even 2 years ago.Who could very well prove to be a lot better than you all currently give him credit for.

MIRANDA TOO STATIC AND BENN CLIMBS ALL OVER HIM FOR A QUICK TKO. BENN TOO QUICK AND TOO BRUTAL

Nope. He isn't, no scope for development.
 I don't count any fighter out, look what would've happened if we'd started comparing Barrera to Salvador Sanchez right after he lost twice to Junior Jones versus Barrera's standing now, there's a GIGANTIC difference in how we'd all see that kind of fight turning out between how Barrera was seen then versus now.

Miranda is made for Benn. Once Benn pushes Miranda back the fight is over.

The daftest fantasy matchup to date.

Benn by murderous KO with his first punch.

I know its not actually as simplistic as this, but... Pavlik beat Miranda, and IMO Benn is much better than Pavlik.

Benn is a class act. Miranda is a bum.
