With SN - apart from Khan (so far) - mainly on Setanta and Hennessey now possibly on ITV, will boxing become even more marginalised on Sky?

Sky have been concentrating on domestic stuff of late, but it looks as though they might be losing several big-name UK fighters if the ITV deal involves more than a one-off showing of Froch. What will be left on Sky? Hatton PPVs promoted by Hatton?

Froch has personality. Calzaghe doesn't.

Anyone remember the Froch-Barney fight? That was on ITV2, and the intro tune was the old intro tune from the Benn-Eubank days. I remember that.

Great news - I was looking through my old tapes the other day and Froch vs Barney and Witter vs Kotelnik was on ITV. I'd forgotten that Hennesy's bills were once on ITV - good to see he's back. I'm pretty broke at the moment so cant be fcked getting sky/setanta and its becoming a bit of a pain darting around different mates places who have sky and trying to convince them to let me watch the boxing instead of letting their missuses watch ugly betty or someother crap! It'll be nice to actually stay in and watch the boxing! On a side note a great place to watch the boxing for people who don't have sky - Gala Casino. Its free to join as well - I dont even bother to gamble(strictly betting on sporting events for me), just sit and enjoy the fights!

Excellent News for Hennessey, Carl and British Boxing, hopefully it's not a one-off and is a sign of things to come for the Hennessey camp.

There's one thing for sure, we won't be getting any Manfredo and Bobby Gunn opponents on ITV if Micks running the show. If the ITV-MH deal gets made more permanent it should help him attract more up and coming talent, I wonder if Haye could be tempted to the ITV shores after Enzo???

Average audience was 600,000 ahead of Match of the Day even though that started before Khan fight, and the audience peaked at 5 million at 11.45. ITV perhaps had the jitters, but figures like that tell their own story. The public is into boxing, big time. Froch - Inkin could be cracker, and Froch is now in a position where he could be the world champion within a year. Great that he will be seen by a huge ITV 1 audience.

I said all along if ITV stop marginalising their Boxing output exclusively to Warren and invited in other promoters opportunities then we can get good fights like this on TV. First SKY, then ITV and now Setanta. Will they not learn that when they give an exclusive contract then it comes to a point when we start getting served up shit!

I wrote them an e-mail last year saying the above, they shouldn't be signing exclusive contracts because it allows the promoters to take the piss and that they should just cherry-pick the best fights from whatever promoter.

I just wonder if Hennessey are going to try and grab Khan, with the help of ITV.

reckon this will encourage other promoters as well to offer their fights to different TV stations. this could create a nice open market with different stations taking the best fights regardless of whom they are being staged by. it would get rid of complacency and make things more competitive and exciting and could get both Sky's and ITV's (and maybe even BBC) arses into gear.

I have a feeling that ITV's issue of recent was these exclusive multi fight dealings, than being through with boxing.

About time too.

CF is a great prospect & it is fighters like him that ITv should be showcasing.

Brilliant move for Froch, Hennessy and ITV. The fact is Hennessy has less clout than Warren so is more likely to put on fights the network (and therefore the fans) want to see.

I think froch could be a star cos he's charismatic and has an exciting fighting style I;m realy glad about this move.
