...then how come Earnie Shaver wasn't laughing?

Bernardo Mercado failed to see the humor as well. That makes two of the hardest punchers of that era who did not think Tex Cobb was a joke.

Tex Cobb had a weak chin?

he says tex cobb has a weak chin. one of the most durable heavyweights of all time.

and this guy goes on and on and on about how aggressive he gets because about how users in boxing forums have no knowledge whatsoever...

So every one who does'nt win a world title is a loser? The Collier KO was during his comeback I believe when even his jaw had left him. Be serious now, you know that Shavers, Mercado, Douglas and Holmes could not even budge Cobb.

I am not making him out to be a god. Iam just saying he was'nt a loser. All things are relative I guess. Compared to Joe Louis he is a loser, Compared to Stan Johnson he is a very good fighter.

hairyflexx...what in the hell are you talking about? Good chin..bad chin...bleeder...tough...a joke....like....what is your point?

Who made Cobb out to be more than he was? Nobody I know of. We knew he was a very tough guy and could take it, and agreed with him when he himself said he got those big fights because of the color of his skin. Seems we're all in agreement here...just some of us express ourselves more clearly than others.

NOBODY MAKES HIM OUT TO BE MORE THAN HE IS.

you started a damn post on the guy.

not winning a world title doesnt make u a bum. calling a guy weak chinned becuase he got KOd when he was over the hill  ... the guy took shavers best shots.

you get so aggressive when people dont agree with your misinformed opinions. why dont u grow up, this is a friendly board full of mostly nice guys who just wanna chat boxing.

Great quote from Cobb after the Holmes fight.
When asked if he wanted a re-match with Holmes, Cobb replied " I dont think His hands could take the punishment".

Tough guy, for sure, but not a great fighter.

when Cobb was on the Johnny Carson show Carson said "That Holmes left jab kept sticking you in the face" and Cobb said, "Did you notice that too?"

When they told him that Cosell had quit because of the fight, Cobb said that he would have gone 15 more rounds if Howard would quit calling football!

Saying Cobb had a bad chin is one of the most ridiculous things I've ever read on this board, and that's saying a lot.
