The Haye V Enzo undercard is shaping up!

" The action-packed card also features Souleymane M'Baye, Billy Saunders, brothers Liam, Michael and Ryan Walsh, Eddie Corcoran and Denton Vassell. "

So, we have the Walsh brothers, who did look sharp on their debuts , and also Corcoran Vassell and Saunders, all of who will no doubt face losing journeymen book with just a few days notice.

M'Baye will probably be given a "testing" matchup against an international fighter. Maybe, if we are lucky, M'Baye might be challenging for a belt.

It an absolutely god awful undercard, as expected.

We get TWO well matched, even fights with the main event and Mitchell -Johannesen, and its not very often you get that many on a Sports Network promotion!

Mitchell usually gets opponents that are in a class below him, so he looks pretty good. Carl is a tough fighter who will cause Mitchell problems. Gomez fought like a lion but Johanssen came out on top. We will see how good Mitchell really is in this fight.

After the top 2 fights, the card (as always) is pretty crap, but I couldn't give a fcuk as the main bout is THE ABSOLUTE AND UTTER DOGS BOLLOX!!!!

Paul Smith vs Cello Renda is also on for the English Middleweight Title!!

You might well be right mate, Mitchell might well blow him away but on paper it's a pretty decent contest and for an SN undercard, well I'll drink to that!

I just found this excellent quote from Haye, regarding Mac's previous short notice opponents: "With me. I'm in shape."

I really wish he'd added "behave yourself" to that!

And what was with the 'undercards are for losers' comment? Who ever started as a main event and the price of a seat nowadays I want to see every fight, not just sit at the bar till the main even starts

M'Baye is up against Jose Soto, who might put up a good fight- its kinda hard to tell. At least he is booked with enough notice!

I fail to see why they can't book the other undercard "opponents" with more than a weeks notice.

I would have thought that it was the other way round? IE one of the incentives of taking a fight at short notice is that you get a bit more cash.

I can see Mitchell doing a number on him.

Its going to be interesting to see how the fill the 6 hours before the main event- longer than normal for an undercard. If the bouts are over quickly, we could be looking at major periods of inaction.

I would assume Mitchell will be on about 11.30pm.

Well, they are now up to a total of 12 fights.

Denton Vasell is off, but ON are Vinny Mitchell, Patrick Maxwell, and Christopher Sebire.

However, what really annoys me is that they will almost certainly be matched against journeymen opposition in one-sided bouts.

I would have thought that it was the other way round? IE one of the incentives of taking a fight at short notice is that you get a bit more cash.

If I leave it until 2 weeks notice, then I put a call around to every boxer at that division and tell them they can fight for £5,000, whereas they'd normally get £10,000, they'll snap your hands off for a night's work, they can't train as hard because of the short notice and the stable fighter wins.

Looks like Liam Walsh is fighting Robin Deakin - should be a good match up, to be honest- Deakin is the guy who floored Vinny Mitchell.

The big undercards are always a point of contention and interesting in the fact that they often include promising names but it's the opposite corner that is the concern. Sticking in nine prospects is one thing but filling the other corner with nine journeymen, some of whom have zero ambition is where the problem usually lies.

Deakin is a nice fella. Gave a good account of himself against Eddie Hyland too a while back and is often in good shape.
