Does anyone have any suggestions as to who should step in if Hopkins doesn't go through with the Witter fight? I was thinking Lazcano but he now looks like he won't be available. Obviously needs to be a name fighter who will come to win

(I'm banning a certain IBO light welterweight champions name from this thread so i'm expecting about 4 replies at best )

I wondered this the other day. IMO Salida is the only half-decent 140 fighter left.

Would prefer Spadafora, but judging Current Scene he can't make 140 anymore.

Castillo is still his mandatory.

Urango? Holt, Maussa maybe.

What about Lynes or Bami?

But isn't Castillo fighting Bradley in an eliminator

No chance of it happening but if they could somehow get a unification fight together with Torres, that would be a great route to go down

If Witter wants to improve his image then fighting Lynes and Bami will gain him nothing

Maussa is getting beaten all over the shop recently, Urango would be good though, think there are still some good available names

Holt is fighting in April. Torres is still free.

Bami and Lynes would be a massive step back for Junior. Better that he waits for better opponents to become free, surely?

Castillo has technically been the mandatory since October, but the WBC appear to be trying to cash in a little bit more.

Maussa can't make 140 anymore. He's fighting at 147 and got KTFO badly in his last fight on the Cotto undercard.

Torres is the obvious fight for Witter if Hopkins falls through and Hatton doesn't face Torres in his next fight.

As said before, Lynes and Bami would be steps back, beating Castillo wouldn't do anything for his career as Hatton's been there and done that.

Witter needs to be having the unification fights from now on.

Torres I suppose ( for the belt) I personally think Hopkins will take the fight, he needs a belt and can not aford to turn down the opportunity,imo.


Reminds me of when BERNARD took all but 1 belt off the line when he was due to fight Eastman, mind games!

I believe Bradley is fighting Castillo in a WBC eliminator, so I doubt he'll be in the mix. The winner of that would be a decent opponent for Witter later in the year though. Although the Witter camp may have to backtrack somewhat on their comments post Hatton-Castillo.

Most of Torres' defenses were vs top contenders to the WBO. Decent/tricky fighters like Holt and Arnaoutis. Surely Torres wants to now make as many easy WBO defenses at home as is humanly possible. No one wants to risk losing their title vs a stylist like Witter.

Would a trip to Doncaster represent a career-high pay-day for Torres? He must have made a few quid back in Columbia. There's no money for Junior in Doncaster, let alone his opponents.

hope so. Showtime would possibly be interested. That's if they didn't still hate Witter for that Judah fight...And if they would actually look at Witter's last performance...
