Should be entertaining. Campas is past his best and Brian Peters might feel the time is right after the Asikainen stoppage, but he's still a big step up from anyone Macklin has beaten so far.

Decent decent fight... at least we can get some comparison between Macklin and Duddy.

I've seen alot of Campus of late (apart from the Asikainen fight) - he is still decent when up against a come forward fighter who is relatively easy to hit.

Something Macklin was vs Jamie Moore.

You will find a very differnt Macklin from the one who fought more,agaisnt the italian last time out he was picking is shots and using intelligent agression.I think he will do a much better job on Campos than Duddy did.

I agree Macklin is a different fighter. He's becoming a fine boxer.

However, you;d think he should be gunning for Asikainen, not Campas!

Good fight but hardly the titanic battle the press release promised us.

Good to see Rogan getting some activity after a slow career and also Murray and Gorman can settle the score for the Irish belt.

I'm glad to see that he's moved from Billy Graham, nothing against Billy, but I don't think MM was suited to the way BG wanted him to fight (Hatton stylee). He doesn't need to fight face first as he did against Jamie Moore

Yori 'Boy' Campas should be nicked under the trade descriptions act. Is beating up old men legal in Dublin? Would be a better fight for Ojay than Macklin.

I bet the BBBC wouldn't even licence Yori Boy Campas.

Let's say, hypothetically, Campas goes the distance against Macklin and puts in a good effort (the latter is guaranteed) and he's matched in a 10-rounder with, I dunno, Bradley Pryce, Anthony Small, Takaloo or Lockett. Will you still sing the same song as above?

Campas is past his best, sure, but he's still a very capable operator at fringe level. Look at his recent record. What leads you to make childish comparisons between him and Ojay?

He's going to give Macklin a hard fight and it wouldn't raise more than one eyebrow for me if he beat him.

Middleweight prospect Matt Macklin takes on Mexican veteran Yory Boy Campas in Dublin's National Stadium on March 22.
Macklin, promoted out of the Emerald Isle by Brian Peters, is a Brummie of Irish extraction who has recently linked up with celebrated American trainer Buddy McGirt. He's clearly a man in demand and won three on the spin since his classic with Jamie Moore in 2006, when he ran out of steam and was poleaxed in 10. But that was at light-middleweight and Macklin looks far more comfortable a weight up. He also looks to be boxing more, mixing his punches nicely to head and body, after steaming into Moore like a wild man.
But he hasn't fought anyone of substance since Moore and 36-year-old Campas is hardly brimming with ambition these days and was stopped earlier this month by tough Finn Amin Asikainen in seven rounds. Campas looks to be conducting a bit of a European tour - this will be his third fight on the Continent - almost as if to grab a few paydays at the tail-end of his career. He's had over 100 fights and is actually not that far away from 100 wins (he has 91). It would be nice to see him reach that milestone, surely the first man to do so since Roberto Duran in the early 1990s, but he's pretty slow and Macklin has the speed, clout and ambition to outscore him. Campas has never been dropped.

Campas has still got a name and he can still bang - but he's slow as hell these days. Decent fight for Macklin to get some more recognition - a showcase really.. He should be gunning for the British champ Elcock and/or Sylvester the euro champ whose looked vunerable vs Amin Asikenen.

I agree it's a disgrace , good thing Sports Network can offer us quality middleweight fights such as Paul Smith v Cello Renda .

Renda may have lost to Prince Arron(who Duddy blew away in 2 rounds) and have been stopped by Ayitey Powers and Joey Vegas , aswell as George Katsimpas(although that's a little more understandable) but should prove a stiff test for Paul Smith.............

I too thought mayweather snr trained matt, interesting if its mcgirt. Manny steward came over with andy lee on the dunne martinez undercard, got my picture with him, but didnt manage to woo him like terry d did. He knows his shit does terry, to be fair (thats another tenner you owe me tel).

Mayweather Snr is double booked AFAIK, I dont know if McGirt is a temporary appointment
