Now that alot of the obvious fighters are out of the way, the next round of voting will be very interesting.

I think Foreman makes it in with ease.
Flowers is likely to make it also

The next guys I will be banging the hammer hard for are George Dixon, Pascual Perez, Kid McCoy, Harry Wills, & Beau Jack...... Not saying they are definently the most deserving guys not in, just the guys I will be pulling for.

There a few areas that I think are worth discussing.

I wanted to mention to JA Hamilton that Foreman and Flowers were elected this time. That should mae you happy since you voted for them both!

It is disappointing that more people didn't vote. Only 9 people? Last time we had 14. You would think that we wouldn't have any trouble getting at least 20.

I just don't this at all. think of all the great debates we could have. This is over 100 years and includes all weight classes. Instead people prefer threads like Who would you least like to see in a dark alley , more threads about how great Ike Ibeabuchi would have been or yet more threads ripping Ali or Leonard.

On the other hand, the people that did vote do seem to know what they are doing. There were very few votes for fighters that you couldn't at least make a plausible arguement for.

It was good to see that some deserving fighters finally got in. Personally, I have been voting for Michael Spinks since the very first round. (So now you guys won't have to hear me whine about him not getting in anymore!)I know other people feel the same about other guys like Barbadoes Joe Walcott,Carmen Basilio, and Packey McFarland.

Finally, Kid Chocolate made it. After missing by 1 vote 4 times in a row! I myself didn't vote for him in the 4th election when he missed by one voted for the first time. Had I done so, he would have made it way back then!

It is interesting that so many guys (14) made it this time. There was a time a while back when only 3 or 4 guys were making it and it seemed that some guys were never going to make it.

What does this means for the next ballot? We should see a lot more new names. For example, 13 of the 25 guys that I voted for this time got voted in. This means that I will pick 13 new guys. All of us who voted this time will be similar situations next time.

I think the biggest area that we are neglecting is the 19th century fighters. Very few have been elected. However, it looks like we made some progress. First of all, Barbadoes Joe Walcott did make this time. George Dixon and Tommy Ryan only missed it by one vote. John L Sullivan only missed by 2 votes.
Boxbuzz is championing Nonpariel Jack Dempsey and it will be interesting to see how much more support he will get next time. He was one of the last guys that I had to cut this time.
I know that the sport was improve greatly in the late 1800's; however the very elite of that time period deserve to make it in my opinion.

Overall, though the Hall of Fame voting has been very good. It would be difficult to argue that there is a fighter who hasn't made it (and has been retired for 10 years) that is far better than a fighter who has been elected.

Does anyone have any thoughts about future voting?
Should us "regulars" debate more before the voting is final?
Should we do more to get more people to vote? If so, what?
