Jack Dempsey vs Tommy Gibbons - purely out of interest

Couple of things I wanted to ask...
Dempseys mate was the ref apparently... did this actually influence the fight (i.e did Gibbons have a shout at winning the decision if done nuetrally)
also apparently the venue (Shelby Montana) built a 40'000 stand and 7000 showed up... any more info on that?
And they apparently gave the fight film to someone for distribution (along with 1000 dollars) and the fellow skipped town apparently.... did the film ever resurface?

1) By al accounts and from the film Dempsey won the fight clearly fair and square. Gibbons fought a defensive fight but Jack worked a good body attack the full 15 rounds
2) Yes, it was a financial disaster. Pretty much bankrupted the town of Shelby as they were banking on a major success from their investments
3) The film is readily available through any trader. Here is 8 minutes of it:

Many are quick to point out, though, that this very fight is evidence that the legendary Jack Dempsey had problems with the great stylists of the age, and would hypothetically lose to such greats as Muhammad Ali. While it isnt the barn burner that the Willard, Carpentier or Firpo fights were, it certainly wasnt a bad fight at all for Dempsey, and Gibbons is rather under-rated.
Many blame the financial problem on the fact the fight went the distance, when Dempsey was known for being a KO artist, I dont believe that is true. I believe the MAJOR reason is...the fight was in bum fucked egypt [Shelby, Montana] its all about location, location, location peoples.

How could the fight going the distance affect the gate? You buy tickets for the fight before you know the outcome.
The reason the fight did poor financially was because Kearns didnt believe the promoters would be able to come up with Dempsey's guarentee so up until nearly fight time he was ready to pull out. Nobody was going to buy tickets, make travel arrangements and sleeping accomodations in the middle of nowhere for a fight that may or may not take place.

You have time on your hands to spare, don't give me that.... lol. As I said, the information was that the film was unavailable and lost, so when you said it was avaialble, I thought, maybe I should ask where, to check this isn't granberry being crotchety.
