I thought you guys were original with all your sporting songs you make up. Turns out some you just copy, only replacing the name of the athlete in question... I was just watching the premiership Darts championship. And they were singing "Walking in a Taylor Wonderland" which was just "Walking in a Hatton Wonderland" with Taylor instead of Hatton......

What Gives?

It wasn't original for Hatton either my friend....

Alan Shearer was the first subject of that chant that I can recall. Perhaps he wasn't the first though?

However, it seems to of gone well over the top since Hatton has become known for it, it's bloody everywhere now.

Brian Robson I think, but I was 8 at the time and high on TNT candy so can't be sure.

Yes, we at the Boro used to sing 'Walking in a Robson Wonderland' which was soon followed by 'Robson Out'

I'm sure there were plenty of examples before this though.

It got popular in the 90s I recall when this comedy singer did a cover of it one christmas.

And I think there was another spoof I heard on the radio once around the same time which went "Walking round in womens underwear" which struck a chord with me.

I was referring to the glory days of '85 at the Stretford End fella, when it used to cost my Uncle £1 to get me in.

I remember Steve Murray's loud support belting out that one.

In fairness the song has been churned out and apapted for many sportsmen/teams for many years now

It caught on and started when Keegan went to Newcastle as a player as I remember - early 80's.

You should check out the footie songs if you want originality.

Darts and Boxing are newcomers to the world of the sporting chant, and they lift everything they sing from footie songs.

Personally I don't go much on the Hatton/Taylor wonderland songs.
I much prefer our version at the Lane...

Just was shocked the other day and I heard the song, and when I went in the other room it was darts

The whole chant thing is new to the USA I dont think we even have any.

Alan Shearer my arsehole, good ol' Johnny Wark is my earliest memory of that song. Many times i walked in a Warky wonderland

This was used for Dong Gook Lee at the Boro, and we also sing:
The Gook, The Gook is on Fire !!!

Not too sure if ppl actually get that this could be quite offensive
