Tubbs is headlinging in March fighting Rocky Ray Phillips.

Phillips is a journeyman with a lot of stoppage losses but he did send a washed up, 280lbs Michael Dokes into retirement with a 2rd kayo.

I frickin LOVE Tubby Tony but i have to seriously question the wisdom in fighting at this point. Tubbs would make a quality boxing trainer with all those slinky skills to pass on, why is he fighting?

Because he's broke of course. His brother Nate was pretty good too, loved the way he went to S Africa and absolutely flattened an unsuspecting Corrie Sanders.

Actually, I shouldn't laugh. Tubbs was probably another Don King-screwed fighter, world-class skills and former world champion who fought the best in the world and came out of the sport without financial sec.

He certainly ran Tony Tucker close for that honour in my books.

Tommy Hearns had a great wet-look for a number of years.

If you watch closely the video of his fight with Hagler, when they get him up off the canvas, there's a big patch of Jerry Curl grease, just like in coming to America.

But seriously... He will probably outbox or knock Phillips out, make a little change and get another insignificant fight in a year or two. If he wants to do so, why not let him?

If Tubbs is as good as he was in his last comeback, then he could probably make a decent account of himself vs guys in the top 30.

I have all respect for Tubbs, its his dream to continue fighting on and to someday get another title shot; with his upset win over Minto and all few years back, Tubbs has been trying to seal deals against top 30 men, but has been denied time and time again.
