For a bit of fun I thought I might canvas your opinion on who sported the greatest afro haircut on a fighter. Off the top off my head (no pun intended) i'd go for Jimmy Ellis, 70's version. Any others?

Audley Harrison in the McCafferty fight.

Donnie Long. He was the guy I first thought of when this issue was raised.
Or maybe you mean Michael 'Jack' Johnson? He rocked a pretty tight 'fro.
David Haye has been known to let it all hang out 'afro stylee' between fights but I cant remember him sporting it in a fight, off the top of my head.

Unreal. As if any such debate exists.

I think you mean Michael Johnson.
How about David Tua, he had an interesting one.

My vote goes to Yoko Gushiken, he sported a rather cool looking fro` and fu-manchu to go with it. I dunno about you folks but I ain`t never seen a japanese, hell I ain`t never seen an asian fighter with an afro period, on that basis alone he gets my vote.

He beat that plodding southpaw that many around here hold in such high regard.

And then Hagler beat him in the rematches, including a second round knock out where he had Monroe dancing more than Zab Judah did against Tszyu.

Tony Tubbs deserves a mention for modernising the afro, using the latest technology available at the time to construct a precursor to the high top. A man well ahead of his time in bad haircut terms and every single black man who was a teenager in the 1987-1993 period owes him a debt of gratitude.

Anyone remember Light Heavy Vonzell Johnson? I seem to recall that one being a winner, but Jimmy Ellis' in the Frazier rematch in Australia is a diamond.

George Foreman in 1972.
He had a perfectly sculpted afo.
I think he had the same hairdresser as Jim Brown
did when he made those Slaughter,Black Gunn movies.
