My feeling is he's playing hardball.

It's not on the Golden Boy schedule anymore. But they may have just pulled out, that's all.

I do not think Hopkins can afford to turn down this fight.

DFS have good deals on sofas at the moment, maybe they should offer him lounge furniture as a sweetener.

When will this guy get a break?

Looks like even by winning a world title things aren`t going to be any easier for Junior ..
Without the big names in the other corner there won`t be much interest from the tv companies .. and without tv interest there will be less interest on his bank balance also

Some have said more belts are a good thing because it means more fighters get to fight for the title; the belt isn`t idle and contenders are given their chance.
Down side is though, the contenders can choose who to challenge .. and who to not :(

The last fight was his best performance and as they say, you are only as god as your last fight.

Witter has never put on a performance anywhere near as bad as Hatton vs Urango.

He's MINTED now and this is a guy from a Manchester backwoods (no disrespect I'm just going off Hatton's own media coverage here) who confessed to be "happy to just be boxing for the British title".....Ricky Hatton proved he has balls when he did John Thaxton and Eamonn Magee to name just two.

I wouldn't go as far as to make this argument say, 5 or 6 years ago, or even 2 or 3 years ago.....but it makes no sense at all for super rich Ricky to jump in there with Witter for a potential shocking KO defeat, no sense whatsoever. The fact is he doesn't feel confident about the task IMO and that's why he wants nowt to do with it. There's at least another 3 or 4 million on the table for him for fighting Witter and we all know he likes the money so the ONLY reason he ain't interested is cos Witter stands to brutally KO him. That and so Witter doesn't get a good payday, which IMO is spiteful and not in keeping with the spirit of the game.

Witter wants to save some face now. He's called Hatton out loud and clear and that's as much as he can do, not to mention the excellent job done on Harris.

Witter should make a mental note as follows "F*ck that Ricky Hatton, I'm gonna do this myself". After all, didn't Hatton have to do just that. So what if he "only retires with half a mil instead of 10 mil". That'll buy a decent sized pad and the interest alone will pay his way. And years later he won't be the one waking up and looking in the mirror and seeing a man looking back at him who ducked his big domestic rival. That's what Hatton will be waking up to.

I think one other thing is very worth pointing out here too. Hatton is a man who comes from very near to a huge city who has an affinity with the local football club, who let's be honest have had f*ck all to sing about in decades.......there's 100,000 supporters right there!! Like others have pointed out, there's a massive element of Ricky Hatton fans who are basically football fans (well City fans anyway)....I know this cos I've watched Hatton's own brother box at the MEN in front of ten men and a jack russell and they were all in the pub, not round the ring!! (and I weren't supporting Magic "where's he disappeared to" Matthew neither thanks very much.
Now compare that to Witter, who correct me if I'm wrong is from heavily Asian and Black Bradford.....Basically he's got no lifelong affinity with Bradford FC and many of the Asians are probably more up for the cricket as it tends to be their preference over the footie.
Who's more likely to go and get pissed and shout and cheer about 2 blokes knocking lumps out of each other.....the cricket fan or the mix of football fans/yobbo's.

That's as likely a factor why Hatton draws more fans than Witter as any. Not rocket science.

I disagree. Witter has made the most of his opportunities post Judah and has every right to be aggrieved. The realities of the sport dictate who fights who, where and when. I have and always will admire the persona that Hatton presents (no matter how many £s he has in the bank) but it is not good for the sport in general when the recognised No.1 totally dismisses the only meaningful rival at a weight where he is both suited and should stay.

I`m not sold on the Harris win like some on here are .. didn`t Maussa KO him .. and that win is basically where all the Witter hysteria is coming from.

Whats stopping him doing what Hatton did and crossing the water and making oppurtunities instead of expecting them to be offered to him .. if hatton can do it - then why not Witter?

well your last point is what I've just said too Tony, there's no reason at all Witter shouldn't have to do exactly what Hatton did.

as regards buying into Witter after KO-ing Harris. Personally I consider 15 KO wins on the spin worthy of a shot myself.

I doubt Hatton could have taken on Judah at 5 minutes notice and gone 12 rounds even if it was a bore fest. Yeah only cos the then super-hot Judah couldn't do owt with him. He'd have KO'd Hatton a-la- Mayweather. In fact Hatton would never have been able to burn the pies off with the amount of notice Witter had!

It's called integrity tonyevs. Sure Witter and Hatton are very good fghters at world title level, but neither are exceptional either. There shouldn't be any Witter hysteria or Hatton overrating just a well balanced matchup at the top end in a shallow division.

Bottom line is:

Hatton thinks he will lose to Witter.

Hatton is a fraudulent contradiction riddled football fans fcuk boxing money loving Ring Post head butting overrated forever ridiculed for not fighting Witter 30 years from now scab riddled drunk.
