got on about Khan on the prospect thread and it made me wonder about Limond as it's been what - 5 or 6 months.

His bro' was on here not long back....perhaps he or anyone else could give us an update on Willie's progress?

arite lads! willies bro here no been on in a while. willies next fight is on the 29th march at the S.E.C.C in Glasgow against Martin watson for the IBO intercont.. title should be a cracking fight, a good 1 for the fans! its not on t.v so anyone interested in going to the fight can get tickets on 0870 040 4000. theres 8+ fights on indluding kenny anderson and maybe a well known former brittish& world champ but cant say anything just yet. willies ear has fully healed and is raring to get back in the ring after 9 moths out.

Willie Limond has his first fight since extending Amir Khan when he takes on fellow Scot Martin Watson in a lightweight 10-rounder in Glasgow on March 29.
Local man Limond made his way down to London last summer and floored Khan in the sixth round of a thrilling encounter at the 02 Arena, before Khan rallied and forced Limond to retire on his stool at the end of the eighth with a perforated eardrum. Limond, who lost his Commonwealth lightweight title, gave Khan a real scare and insists the unbeaten Bolton star failed to beat the count. In 30 fights, the 29-year-old joiner has lost only to Khan and to world class Edinburgh super-featherweight Alex Arthur (also in eight rounds).
We can assume he is still a threat.
Enter "Hurricane" Watson, still only 26 but looking somewhat blown out after a succession of Khan-Limond type wars. He went to hell and back in 10-rounders with Steve Murray and Lee Meager and took a pounding off Gavin Rees in a six-rounder in Cardiff in 2006, now the WBA light-welterweight champion. Last time out in October, Watson dropped a 10-rounder - and his Celtic lightweight title - to unbeaten Welshman Gary Buckland in Newport.
This is yet another tough assignment for the gritty factory worker from Coatbridge. Limond does nothing brilliantly but everything well, and a long, hard, possibly bloody fight looks on the cards, given Watson has never been stopped and both men mark up. Expect the solid, skilful Limond to mix his punches sharply to body and head on the way to the points.

Should be a points win for Limond here, as long as the Khan fight hasn't taken too much out of him.
Martin Watson is a good boxer, with an excellent chin, and always comes to fight, so any weaknessess by Limond could be exposed.
But i think Watson just lacks that big punch and strength to beat the lads who are top of the pile domestically.

That's odd. I like W Limmond, he is good no doubt, but to suggest he is the best domestic lightweight on the basis of some limited success against a 12 fight Khan seems over the top to me.

Fair enough. My response was to Max M's post which was less equivocal.
I couldn't be sure. Limmond has only really had two contests at lightweight. I'd be interested to see how he faired against any of the top domestic guys. Thaxton's the Brit champ and unbeaten at lightweight for a long time.
