Marquez v Vasquez 3

Should be another good one on Sat, doubt Setanta are showing it are they?
Great highlight video of the 2nd encounter here, unbelievable action and you'll never see two fighters trying harder to win - hope they're getting paid well, as they put the heavyweights to shame

They might be gtetting paid well compared to the average person, but compared to the well-known HW's, I bet Marquez & Vazquez are receiving a lot less.
Something wrong somewhere!

Setanta definately aren't at the moment. SKY put a bid in of $25,000, but the asking price from SHOWTIME was $60,000.
If I hear anything I'll let you know.

I think this is the hardest to call fight scheduled for this year so far.
I've only gone with Vasquez in PTBF and BoxPcisk because he won the last one.
I hope it's as good as the first two.
Contender for best trilogy of all time?

It's a mini Haye-Enzo, I wouldn't like to pick a winner from this one both are massive punchers. Its guarenteed entertainment, so hopefully Sky or Sultana will fork out for it.

wait til my points go on for the below
I bet 14675 on Anthony Mundine Win by decision in Anthony Mundine vs Nader Hamdan fight, which took place last night and Mundine won a UD
'The Gifted One' might take a 2 month sabatical, so you can all catch up

I went for him by KO! The gobby twat

Bastard! I only bet 1027 on a win. I'm desperate to take over from Oliver. How did you get 14675 points, Stu?
I managed to get Bradley Pryce on there by bombarding him with invites. IMO the best facebook game, ever!

They should change the way they rank Boxpicks, because no matter how much you win, when you spunk it all on new bets, you drop out of the rankings again...
Not that i'm anywhere near 14675 or anything yet.... :(

That annoys me too. Putting on my nerd hat, it should be cached in the DB prior to the bet being placed and then reduce/increase dependent on result and then create a new DB cache.
But it's free, so we shouldn't moan I guess.

Really looking forward to this rubber match, probably the most anticipated fight of the year in my book. Guaranteed non stop ebb and flow between two world class warriors. Most people seem to be backing Vazquez for the win but I'm pulling for Marquez to regain his title in another war.

Polar opposite IMO. Rafael is less slick, but more direct.
His fight with John is worth getting

If the bookies gave the same odds as BoxPicks, I'd be a multi-multi-millionaire, unfortunately for us the bookies aren't quite as generous

If anything it will be Marquez who will be upping his performance this time.
That said, I do think that Vazquez has figured him out now.
Will be a good one. Looks like the winner will try and get a shot at a featherweight champion. Will be interesting if Marquez won, if he'd try and avenege his brother's loss to Chris John.

Bound to be a war, but despite being a very good fighter I cannot help but think that the second fight took something out of Marquez; he just never had his legs under him properly after the third round. He had that worrying, slightly flailing look to him, & couldn't get out of the way of Vazquez's shots after that.
Obviously there's no quit in the boy, but he took a tremendous amount of punishment on unsteady legs, hoping that one of those bombs he throws was going to turn the tide. It can't have done him much good, & to my mind he has always looked a touch shaky when caught flush.
His problem is, I think, that while he hits very hard he can't knock Vazquez out -- drop him, maybe, if he catches him just right whilst Rafa is still fresh -- & I think he's too technically flawed defensively to stay away for as long as it requires to open IV's face up -- too open to the right over the top & too intent on landing his own bombs in close to avoid Vazquez's short left hook.
Despite being dropped twice by Jhonny Gonzalez & overwhelmed late by Larios, I think Vazquez has a very, very good chin. He's open to being dropped 'cause he's off-balance at times (squares up too much) but I don't think I've ever seen him genuinely rubber-legged. Marquez has looked hurt for at least 8 of the 14 rounds they've fought & I think ultimately his vulnerability is what is going to decide this.
Vazquez in another brutal one, which will unfortunately shorten both guy's careers.
(Sorry for the essay, by the way.)

excellent post and assessment of the fight Datsue.
Pretty much agree with everything you say.
Don't know who i'll be rooting for, they are both true warriors, no need for trash talk or over the top hype and promotion, they are the real deal.
Can't wait for this one...

Really like Marquez and I hope he can turn the trick in this 3rd meeting of a hugely under rated boxing rivalry.
Can't believe its not being picked up by any UK channel, esp in the light of the heavyweight tripe we were served last wkend..

Hard to call isn't it? Marquez is class, a boxer with TNT in each hand. Normally go with the better chin, and that seems to be Vasquez. But.....RM seems so determined, he just might pull it off

Disgraceful. This is going to be yet another classic.
