That doesn't really tell the story, McDonagh cut over eye by Lauri's head I heard and the fight had to be stopped because of cut and Lauri wasn't having it all his own way. McDonagh was touching the light welter limit the last 3wks before the fight, he is 100% a lightweight

I watched the fight and fought Lari was on top that round and the stoppage was coming anyhow. I think the doctor did Peter a favour.

I doubt the BUI stripped him of the title - they arnt like the WBC in that way. Robbie Murray had it for ages and didnt defend it and infact only vacated it so that

I think there was talk about stripping him and Colin fighting Delahny but he got sent down so don't know what will happen with that now. I was hoping Rogan would make more progress than he's done for the fight to be made. Maybe Belshaw down the line?

Exactly, McBride won the Irish Heavyweight title in 1996 i think and is still champion despite Kenna, Rogan and Belshaw all being active. It's time the big oaf was stripped.

Would Belshaw fight for an Irish title?

When i spoke to him i didn't sense a problem. After all he won Irish titles as an amateur.

Simple answer - yes he would.

There has been alot of talk of Rogan vs Belshaw for this belt if Mcbride didnt want to defend it against either, though due to career paths it may not be something we see anytime soon.

Belshaws Manager - Frank Maloney is in the press recently stating that he thinks Belshaw could beat skelton over 6 rnds and that he think he has a ligitimate chance of a British title shot within the next 18 months if not sooner.

Fair enough I was just asking as I know certain "Northern Irish" wouldnt fight for a British title.

Yes I'd like to see Rogan and Belshaw get it on - from what I understand there is no love lost between the Holy Trinity and Eastside boxers.
