everytime i see this kid fight i'm impressed.

what do you guy's think and how far do you think he can progress in the sport?

He can certainly conquer the UK and with the proper management we could have a world level fighter on our hands.

At 20 years old I'd say he has massive potential, especially given the relatively weak state of the featherweight division these days. Looks potentially a world title winner to me, but I haven't really seen his chin tested much yet.

Offensively he looked really, really good. Still gets a little over-eager at times, though, and his defence will need to tighten up as he moves up in levels. For a 20-year-old he has massive potential. Easily one of the best prospects around. Those body shots were vicious.

A fight with Simpson is a significant step-up, though he seemed to realise that afterwards in the interview. He came across really well actually. Great attitude.

I am not impressed - still too much 'boy' about him.

I think Simpson stops him in 3-5 rounds.

Always thought he was a bright prospect, watched him live a few times now, but didn't see his fight last night - Not a good performance by all accounts?

He has a tendency to chase the action and always be the one looking for the opening and ready to work for his win - I like that most about him, although it leaves him a bit too open.

I don't think he's quite ready for British level, but another 2 fights and he should be close.

HE reminds me of Alex Arthur - decent attacking shots, but not a big a puncher he thinks he is.

And he gets hit too clean too often.

I think he gets to UK level no higher. ANd I agree with the poster who said he has too much of 'the boy' about him. He lookd about 15 and potentially fragile.[/i]

exciting prospect, no need to rush things, bit of gym work on defence needed imo

Dale gets his from Dean Powell.

He's got talent and is good to watch but I can see Simpkin beating him if he doesbt fight a whole lot better than he did on Friday... his defence was poor and at one point he looked worryingly out of sorts when he was under pressure... I dont think he's ready for a title fight yet... why the rush?... I'm usually critical of boxers being nannied but this guy looks a few fights and about a year away from being ready for a British title fight...

not very far to tell you the truth., Ive known paul since his amature days and hes always been a good boxer, he was too young when he turned over and is still a boy needs time to develop both mentally and physically, look at Kev Anderson 24 and hes finished? think he was pushed a bit too far and had too many title fights in such a short space of time, To compare paul to Alex arthur is daft Alex was a world class amature and won the commenwealths dont even think paul was best in scotland when he turned over never mind anywhere else, anyway all the best to him and if he goes in with simpson next john stops him in eight.

he got starched in 1 by khan in the ams

but looking good so far, didnt he stop dezzie higginson a few times, thats a good win cause dezzie in naturally bigger by a few weight categories and was also a decent am

Who gave you the Khan info?? cant remember that happening but then again khan wasnt a a name then so prob didnt take notice,, To be fair am sure David his brother was the better boxer but he had two pro fights and then chucked it joiner now i believe.

Paul did win scottish titles at amateur levels 7 or 8 times if i remember correctly he was a very good amateur and i wish him all the best in his carreer a young scottish lad who seems to be tryin his best to achieve a goal. I knew Paul and his older brother david when they were young lads just starting out and they had a natural ability, young paul said he was gonna be a boxer and that was all he wanted to be so good luck to him, i wish him all the best ........ but tighten up those hands lad .

Paul won nothing as a senior mate, and like i say wasnt even best amature in his weight when he turned over hes a good boxer and a nice lad but this shouting out of john simpson is stupid, john is a good hardworking guy who had earned what he had the hard way and paul should show some respect he is not ready for him anyway.
