trained for a bit in the same gym as him though never really spoke to him. Heard about his reputation from reports on the web and want to see videos to make my own judgements. Seeing him train is probably a completely different ball game to seeing one of his fights

I got his two loosing fights against Carl Froch and Thomas Ulrich. The Froch decision was okay, but the the three judges in Germany was way out of line. Even the germans were embarrased.

Whats happening with him.... there is a decent batch of domestic level Light Heavies around - surely Barney can fight against the likes of Francis, Oakey, Magee etc.

He's already fought two of the three and to put it bluntly where is the incentive for any fighter to face Matthew Barney? He has the ability to make anybody look bad, which is why I give Froch credit for facing him and beating him.

I know that, well both should want to avenge the defeat - plus why doesn't the BBBoC enforce a match. Surely Barney should be a manadtory for the British title.

I've no doubt a two-handed Francis could get his revenge, but how will that further Dean's cause? He's got limited time to achieve anything in this sport so there are fights that are far more important to make than facing Barney again.

Yeah, your right on both accounts (although not sure he'll ever be a two fisted fighter again) - but surely the BBBoC can make him mandatory for Oakey - (can they make him mandatory for the Commonwealth?) - it would be up to the boxer to accept the fight. If not, then Barney would fight for the vacant title.

What gym did you see im train at Finch?

See him now and again in and around Southampton, normally at the cinema. He's always moaning in the local papers that he never gets te credit he derserves as the establishment is against him coz he's a gypsy and has no amateur background.

Think his style is a complete turn off and offers no reward to fighters only risks.

He was due to fight the Candian CW that recently beat Keaton but that also never seemed to come off.

Camberley boxing club. Seems a nice fella. Can't really guage much about his style there so wanna see him in action.

Dont know anything about his background (there's not a huge amount on the net about him) apart from the fact he's a gypsy but from what i can gather and have read he seems to have half a point at least. OK, granted so his style may not draw the crowds in but he got results albeit not an unblemished record.

Light Heavy? Best of luck to him - always dealt a harsh card by the fans.
