David Haye V Enzo Maccarinelli - Running Thread

We did this on the night of Calzaghe-Kessler and it seemed to work pretty well. Just to keep the unfolding action alongside Setanta running and so we all stay on the same page so to speak :D

The show has started, the cliches are flying, Claude Abrams is looking skeletal, Buncey certainly isn't, i am sure we are ready to hear the same predictions, same chat and reheated waffle for the upcoming 5 hours or near. Enjoy and comment away :TU: :box:

Freeviews swap from chn 38 to 34 or vis versa cant rememeber, all the issues should now be resolved with the 3am cut offs.

Renda seems to be ahead after 4 rounds. Maybe Smith isn't quite as good as we first thought, or just an off night?

smith was shit against cheka aswell. ever since the contender fights he's looked terrible. doesnt look like its working with him and mcgirt, not at the moment anyway.

smith wins in the 6th by tko. renda taking shit loads of flush punches with little coming back. perhaps a little early as renda wasnt really out of it, and was ahead on points.

smith looked awful for 5 rds.

finally woke up in the 6th.

i've always thought maybe smith could win a british title.

not on that form.

HaHa he made me eat my words with that finishing salvo in the 6th round. McDonnell could have jumped in at different points with shots smashing Renda's head back and forward. Smith needs to be taken off the back burner, he is in danger of going stale. Must aim for Elcock or Barker next, not the inevitable WBO Intercontinental title.

Smith I think is one of those boxers that fights to the level of his opponent, and will look better as he steps up, i may be wrong,
he looked awful until the 5th round, but nice 6th round from him.

Looked a bit fleshy too and his face didn't look too clever at the end. Another case of a fighters career being held back to the point of going off the boil. Drop the WBU International crap and get in line of the British IMO.

if smiths training in the states, might be best for him to have a few fights against the higher standard of opposition over there. dont really think these domestic fights are really helping him at all.

Smith seemed a bit sluggish tonight and lacks snap in his punches. His conditioning seems to be an issue as well. Even when he loaded up he left his chin out on offer whilst falling in on his punches.

Disappointed with that performance from him but he got the win which I'm happy about - he seems to be a absolute top notch fella.

Kevin Mitchell V Carl Johanneson coming up next :TU:

Johanneson is very slow and sluggish. Must be banking on Mitchell slowing up as he is a bit open to the left hook. Johanneson's chin holding up well though.
