I have heard Enzo speaks several times and I never known wtf he is saying!

2 questions:

Is this his first world title loss (I think it is)?

When was his last loss, presumably Pryce when he first got him?

Speaks too fast, thats his problem, plus the accent. I can understand the Yanks not knowing WTF he is saying, I cant sometimes. I often have to do a replay on Youtube.

I think you could be right which is why I was surprised to see Enzo fight Haye the way he did. I am sure Enzo Calzaghe had a gameplan that Big Enzo didnt follow. Having a tear up with Haye was never going to work.

It's also why the whole team were upset. They were something like 27-0 in world title fights...... I always thought Rees would be the one to mess things up.

Nothing was going to work. hasn't everyone figured this out by now? And he didn't have a tear up, he was fighting cautiously until the KO happened.

I think the talent of the trainer is greatly improving a fighter no matter what they were when they got them. Enzo's a great trainer, not a miracle worker!

I'd be disappointed if people start saying he's shit after praising him for the last 3 years.

I think that a trainer to a boxer as his natural talent. Taylor regressed, irrepairably so, since he initially left Burns. Roach turned Pacman from a slugger to a P4P great. Gatti is a prime example of a fighter having an abundance of talent, but never finding a trainer to unlock his potential, although McGirt didn't do bad.

Without Enzo I'm sure Joe wouldn't have beaten Lacy and Kessler.

Still is the best IMO, with Roach a close second. I get the impression Maccarinelli didn't fight to game plan.

I find it amazing how quickly people can go from hero to zero. You know what: even Enzo Maccarinelli is fine evidence of Calzaghe's talent as a trainer. He's improved so, so much under Calzaghe's wing.

Even Eddie Futch didn't win them all.

Don't us Brits just love it when somebody fails? Enzo's record speaks for itself. He's made a world champ out of Gavin Rees and despite last night Mac is a greatly improved fighter under him. IMO a trainer should be judged on whether he helps his fighters to make the absolute most of their abilities & Enzo fits the bill in my book.

But either Enzo C got this fight COMPLETELY wrong or Enzo M really is fragile mentally when it comes to David Haye. Either Enzo C truly believed "Haye doesn't hit hard" and "isn't that fast" and all the other bullshit that came out of his mouth before this fight or Enzo M needed to hear those sort of lies to give him any semblence of confidence.

I don't buy the "wrong gameplan" excuse, either. Enzo C gets his guys fit. He does lots of runs, lots of punches and lots of hard work. Lots of boxing training. I think Enzo M was prepared for an onslaught and was left to survive that onslaught in the hope that Haye might tire later. That was their plan. Enzo M was nervy, negative and appeared wary of everything Haye did.

Why did Enzo M make the 'mistakes' that Enzo C talked about (pulled back from punches, left his chin in the air and dropped his hands after throwing)?

Erm...because that's Enzo Maccarinelli. That's what he does. Watch all his other fights. He does the same shit in all of them - it's just he's never been in with someone like Haye before...someone clever and hard-hitting who could capitalise on his many, many mistakes. Mistakes Enzo C hasn't ironed out yet. He's calmed Enzo down as a fighter, but there are still tons of holes in his game.

I found it hard to fathom Enzo Calzaghe's post fight mumblings but i could have sworn i heard him say c**t amongst it! Must have been up too late and heard wrong.
