Since Haye demolished Mac in a big all UK fight/world title unification, he's been getting rave reviews.

Though the plan is heavyweight, you never know these MIGHT be the last world titles he ever holds. Why not enjoy them, for another big Uk event for 2, if the weight can be made?

1990s boxing fans will know of old master Johnny Nelson (former long time WBO title holder with the defensive style and some solid wins over Thompson, Dominguez and a down-from-heavyweight Sellers) and Hide (volatile character who guarantees some kind of accident/disaster).

I know Nelson is retired but he looks a fit bloke & apparently not very heavy. The styles may not gel but agood promoter can sell this on Haye's marketability (punch, good looks, media friendly personality) and Nelson as "old master." Would make a decent story and Johnny says he can get in shape.

And then there is Hide who is starting to be taken seriously with his cruiserweight comeback keeping him away from the 6' 5, 230+ lb giants that are just too much for him. Hide can still punch, looks fit and lean, and is as reckless as ever.

I know I'm not the only one who would get up for these fights...

I'd like to say Macca - Hide winner versus Johnny Nelson.
Or Hide - Nelson winner versus Macca
That would be something to get fairly excited about.
Haye should just go to heavyweight.

Macc/Hide would be good I guess, thinking about it.

I know Haye is pretty much finished at the weight, and that there is the risk that Johny will get injurd in training. I just like the sound of these fights. Haye does like hitting tall fighters...

Maybe it's a nostalgia thing because the first real fights I watched were fights like Bowe-Holyfield 2, Hide-Bentt (at a packed Milwall stadium) and Hide-Bowe.

Nelson does have some pedigree - world class though never unified - and I believe he would only come back for Haye.


Ultimately, it seems Haye sees himself as a heavyweight and will just go up.

If you think Millwall was packed you obviously didn't watch that closely.

I didn't look that closely. How many were there that night?

I'd love to see these fights. But they won't happen, because what I want I rarely get.

Anyway, Nelson has had his moment, and no offence to him, but he bailed out of a fight against Enzo sighting injury which now appears not to be a problem.

Nah, Haye is going up to World Class Heavyweight.

Nelson has little appeal, and ffs the guy isn't young, either.

Hide is looking good, but at Crusierweight, so it unlikely to happen, but never say never!

they definitely tricked me a bit. obviously, physically he does need to make the move up soon. I suppose if he had another fight at cruiser that dull Yank Cunningham would say Haye was ducking him.

Haye is moving up to heavyweight, I think thats accepted fact.

I like Nelson but he never even uttered Hayes name til he announced he'd moved up and he's retired. Haye-Hide would be exciting whilst it lasted, but Hayes got feck all to prove at 200.

Haye should keep the titles for a month or 2 and enjoy it.

THEN go to Heavyweight.

Nelson Vs Hide would be fun - but Hide would get stopped then fight the ref and attack Nelson.

There is something wrong with Herbie.

Haye should fight Cunningham and then Herbie Hide - that way there would be no arguments at all about who's the best (assuming Haye wins of course). Both are interesting bouts and there would be genuine needle between DH & HH - Hide would most likely lose his rag at the weigh-in which adds to the excitement.

They're those sort of lads.

that's how I see it. There is that car crash value with HH, and both can bang.

Herbie is a very big bloke as well. He's always made loads of technical errors, chin up, relying on speed and reflexes (both of which are still pretty impressive). But he would definitely try and take Haye out with every shot. Haye should be too good & should be using his potential up at heavyweight, but I would really look forward to this.

I'm sorry, what?! Cunningham has lost and won a close decision to Wlodarcyk, probably the biggest name ( ) on his resume. Hide has done feck all at CW.

There is no argument. David Haye is the best CW on the planet right now. Steve has a valid argument for number 2. Hide has no argument to be in the top 10.
