hi there, for any one who knows anything about the strength and quality of the amateur boxing scene in both or either of these cities could they please lemme know what they know? I'm moving to either Sheffield or London after the summer to go to university (i like both the courses fine) and i'm dead keen to get seriously into amateur boxing while there and have grown completely bored of the lack of boxing scene here in East Suffolk.
i wanna be competing as often as possible but want to know which is the best city for this, and by how far??
i suppose this belongs in amateur boxing but i didnt want it to get overlooked by people who might be able to help.
thanks very much, matty

Have a look at the ABA website mate.
There's a decent enough search facility of all clubs.
Being a Sheffield lad, I would say get your arse up here pal. Some excellent clubs.
If you're going to Uni you'll no doubt be boarding and lodging not too far away, so I would say get to speak to Glyn Rhodes. It's not far away at all from the Uni to his gym.
PM me if you would like a phone number.

Both cities would be excellent choices - however money wise - Sheffield - cheaper cost of living.

cheers for the help guys - a lot of people have recommended Sheffield to me as a place.
To be honest, this...

appeals to me more than this...

EDIT: if the links don't work, they are of the ABA club finder feature. 23 boxing clubs within a 10 mile radius of my digs in London, against 11 in Sheffield...
because as you can see there are more boxing clubs in London which suggests more opportunity to box.
TWENTY SIX: thanx for your help, i've googled Mr Rhodes and got his email address. i think emailing round at the clubs and perhaps going back to each city for another visit (and seeing some boxing clubs while there) may make the decision clearer.
