What fights does the winner move onto after April 19th & where does a loss leave either man?

In terms of lasting legacy within boxing, what would a victory for either man mean?

hopkins indicates he'll retire in that BT interview.

calzaghe only wants 1 more after this.

i definitely see that one being a cardiff stadium fight.

perhaps roy jones will get it.

or maybe someone like pavlik.

can't see chad dawson or clinton woods getting it.

Whoever wins will fight Roy Jones jnr, well that's my guess.

It's all about where the most money is.

Afterward, I'd think Setanta would push for Calzaghe-Woods if both are still champs. And I think everyone would HOPE for Pavlik not long after.

agree, think we'll end up seeing a Calzaghe v Jones fight
in the Millennium Stadium around November /December.

RJJ will fight Woods before he would think about Calzaghe - and IMO Woods would do a number on RJJ this time around.

Calzaghe should thik about Pavlik and this would be a biiger fight than RJJ who is washed up for years now

Might even fight Woods once he has disposed of Tarver

What weight do you think a Cal/Pavlik fight would/should be made at? If Joe performs well at 175, I don't think he would want to put his body through the rigours of making 168 again, nor would it be advisable to weaken himself in that way against a banger like Kelly. However, Pavlik has never fought above 164, though he does have the frame of a light-heavy. Maybe it would be a catchweight of 171-172, as the fight would be more important than any title. Just wondering what you thought.

Win, or lose, Bernie retires. A loss wouldn't do much to dent his legacy, he's already achieved enough and people will simply say "He was too old when he fought Calzaghe".

If Joe wins, he'll fight Woods (provided he beats Tarver) as Joe has always said he wants to be a two-weight World Champion. If Woods loses then I think he'll face RJJ.

A win for Joe would cement his legacy, although the doubters will always say Bernie was too old.

If Joe loses I honestly dunno what he'll do. Maybe he'll have a final homecoming at the Millenium Stadium to say "Goodbye".

I agree, wont affect Hopkins standing too much, just another loss to add to the tally.

As for people saying Hopkins was too old, well that his problem, he hadthe chance to fight Joe years ago but pulled out. As he said at his press conference ge believes that the time wasnt right then, but that it is now. God knows why he says that. Though clearly with four losses on his record and coming towards the end of his career, he has nothing to risk or indeed lose by fighting the Undisputed SMW champion.

I think RJJ would still beat Woods if that fight happened, most likely by decision this time around. RJJ looked pretty decent in his last outing (eventhough he was fighting a naturally far smaller fighter), he looked sharp and fast.

Sorry to be so negative, but I just have a gut feeling that something is going to go really badly with this fight. IE a bad stoppage, a meaningless points decision that is always disputed etc.
