Having added the WBO belt to his IBF belt in Jan, Wlad K has confirmed he wont be fighting again til JULY, and even then thats a Ray Austin-styled pointless mandatory against Tony Thompson. Thats Wlad K done for 2008 i guess.

Ruslan Chagaev is already tied up having to defend his WBA belt against a man hes already beaten in Nikolay Valuev

Samuel Peter has no official challenger and should be unifying v Chagaev. Instead he may end up sitting out the year as Vitali Klitscho repeatedly stakes his claim to a fight then reinjures himself, a cycle that could continue for some time.

David Haye, stop sitting around and smash these guys up, pleeeease.

why the frig can't heavyweights fight 3 times a year any more? What is this industry standard twice a year all about?

Must of been great in the 1980s when Tyson used to whack 4 top contenders a year. No stripping of belts then.

After Thompson, Wlad K is going to fight Alexander Povetkin next. At very least Peter and Chagaev could unify their belts, but you know it will never happen.

Wlad will always take the mandatory when he is a highly rated(by some), very beatable American.
Wlad is trying to make a name for himself in the States.

He will beat Thompson and then face Povetkin hopefully, which in my mind will be the best two Heavyweights in the world facing off anyway, so I'am not too bothered about who holds what belt to be honest.

Wlad v Povetkin is the best match up out there. Number 1 v Number 2, and it's scheduled for the end of this year providing both stay fit.

In an ideal world, whoever wins that takes on Chagaev and then Haye.

What about Audley Harrison?

I disagree, i'd say Chagaev and Peter are more proven than Povetkin. He beat a pair old oldies in Donald & Byrd yes, but he hardly impressed beating jiggly lard-mass Eddie Chambers.

Wlad K v Chagaev would likely be more like #1 v #2, as sad and depressing as that thought is.

Let's just forget about the heavyweights. Let's face it, it's not hard to do...

Povetkin did look good in the 2nd half when he totally took Chambers' heart with workrate and combos. I think if you're going to beat a defensive guy like Chambers it's always going to be ugly, especially if you grind it out the hard way.

I think Povetkin would beat Chagaev right now and Peter pretty soon. Anyway, Povetkin-Wlad is a good fight; the onlyt heavyweight fight I'll look forward to until Haye fights. That fight and winner-take-on-Haye sounds like good viewing.
