ITV1 ADDS JUNIOR WITTER WBC TITLE FIGHT TO MAY 10TH BILL
ITV and Hennessy Sports can today announce that the WBC world light-welterweight title fight between Junior Witter and Timothy Bradley will be broadcast live on ITV1 on the same May 10th bill as Carl Froch’s WBC super-middleweight final eliminator against Denis Inkin.
British boxing star Witter will be making his third defence of his WBC world title against his number one WBC mandatory contender, America’s Timothy Bradley.
The fight will jointly top a huge night of boxing on ITV1 from the Nottingham Arena alongside Carl Froch’s final eliminator contest against Russia’s Denis Inkin for the chance to become the next WBC super-middleweight champion. The under card, broadcast on ITV4, will include the highly anticipated English title fight between John Murray and John Fewkes.
Junior Witter said: “It will be great to showcase my talent in front of a nationwide audience on ITV1; the great British public will now be able to see the fighter who Ricky Hatton is avoiding. I‘m defending my WBC title, the most prestigious belt in boxing. A title Hatton has never been able to win; in fact he got knocked out fighting for the WBC title in his last fight.
Mark Sharman, ITV Director of News and Sport said: “We’re delighted to be able to add the Junior Witter fight to the ITV1 bill. Alongside the Froch versus Inkin final eliminator and a great under card, this will be a fantastic night’s boxing live on ITV.”
Event Promoter Mick Hennessy said: “This was already a great show, now I feel this is one of the very best events for many a year”.
The fight will be broadcast on ITV1, live from the Nottingham Arena, with further fights from the under-card broadcast on ITV4. Coverage will also be simulcast on ITV.com

I hope Hatton is forced to cancel that Malignaggi scrap. This could conjure up memories of Benn, Eubank and Watson. Hopefully Witter isn't treated like a Herol Graham.

Now that's a proper fooking card!
Witter-Bradley
Froch-Inkin
Fewkes-Murray
Don't get much better than that domestically.

That's a hell of a line up
So joint main event is it, or Froch still headlining...

In Notts, Froch will still be the headline fight I would have thought.
Witter's fight might have the WBC title tag but lets not forget, if they put it on after Froch there would be about 35 people from the Wincobank staying back to cheer their man on.
Wouldn't make for much of an atmosphere!

Very true. Let's hope Witter puts on a masterclass for the millions(??) watching. Good night to be at the pub watching, if you can't make it live.

Does this mean that Witter is now fighting in Nottingham or is it still in the US. The press release doesn't say.

I'm looking forward to the Murray fight most. I missed John's last fight and himself and Mr Gallagher were quite cool to me when I met them so I have a lot of respect for them.
Plus I get to meet the legendary Terry D

Superb.

Too right very violent city with one particular hardcase called Robin Hood with a very nasty gang and a slag of a girlfriend called Marion. Joking aside Nottingham is a place to be on your guard.
