once in the long long ago..well, last year, anyway, I dimly recall coming across a thread asking if any boxer was ever on the cover of Time Magazine, and i think someone said Muhammed Ali, but I don't remember any others. Joe Louis was on the cover of the September 29, 1941 issue. Time dated their issues one week ahead, so this would have been a week to the day before Louis knocked out Lou Nova.

If this information has already been posted here, sorry.

I believe Max Schmeling was on a June 1929 TIME cover.
