Hatton fails medical, looks likely to retire

Ricky "Hitman" Hatton today announced that he would be unable to compete in his scheduled bout at the City of Manchester Stadium due to complications arising from a routine medical check. Hattons father and managers, Ray, confirmed that the bout was off, but stressed that the results were in no way suggesting that Ricky was unwell or injured. "This is simply an unfortunate techniciality, and one which we must follow." It is uncelar if Ricky will continue to box, although his condition means he will be unable to compete until today's date, 2009.
